Help Me Out: Cassel or Rivers

Some how it has come down to this. I am 7-7 in my league, with a third seed facing the number two this week in the opening round of the playoffs. I have no idea how I got there. My team has been in shambles all year. Let’s forget about the fact that I’m 7-7 and I’m in (Let us consider it luck). My draft didn’t go as well as I hoped. I waited until my last pick to draft my starting quarterback, Phillip Rivers. I was lucky enough to pick up Matt Cassel off of waivers mid-season. Since that point, I have struggled to decide who to go with week in and week out. Finally my team is starting to form. I feel I have a chance to possibly come out of this round and into the championship. Brian Westbrook is coming back to true form. My tandem of Terrell Owens and Larry Fitzgerald is in my opinion, the best in the league. Micheal Turner has been the one draft pick that I am glad I took when I did. My only weak position seems to be Tight End. Hopefully the addition of Kevin Boss will help me out in that respect.

Anyways, getting to my point. I have no idea what to do at quarterback. Rivers is facing the Chiefs, who have been spotty all year. Cassel is facing the Raiders. Do I need to say more?

Part of my heart tells me that Mr. Cassel will be suited up and ready to go after the loss of his father earlier this week. Randy Moss is facing his former team. I can feel the connection now. It’s just I cant commit to putting him in the lineup over Rivers it seems. I’m tied up.

Rivers has been spectacular this season. Thoughout the last four games, Rivers is averaging around 200 yards a game. In his last game though against the Chiefs, he had 157 yards passing with a TD and a pick. He has by far put up better numbers than Cassel. There is just somethign about adversity that I can’t get over though.

For some reason, I just feel that Cassel is going to come out a blazin’ and he is going to have career numbers. His emotions will be in check, and he might see the field better than ever, simply because emotions will overtake him. That could be an achilles heal as well.

So finally, I come to you to ask your help and push me to the championship game. Who would you start? Matt Cassel or Phillip Rivers?
