Full Court Press- 1/06/09: Harris, Bradley, Dunleavy

Not a lot of sports news really floating around today, but we have a bunch of fantasy news to report. Let’s get it started with NBA News.
NBA:
- Devin Harris tweaked his hamstring last night. He didn’t return for the second half of action. The Nets do not play until Wednesday, so he could play in their next matchup. He is currently listed as day-to-day. Harris is averaging 23 points a game. He is also averaging near seven assists a game.
- Mike Dunleavy is expected to make his season debut tomorrow with the Pacers. He is supposed to be limited to start off the season, so I wouldn’t start him just yet if your lineup is full. He could be a great way to make up for lost rebounds, points and even assists. Plus, he could add points to your squad from behind the arc.
- Ron Artest is questionable tonight against for the Rockets against the 76ers. It always seems like the same old story for Artest. If he gets healthy again, let me know. His status changes every five minutes.
- Another Hamstring Injury? You betcha. Stephen Jackson said he heard a pop? I never knew that muscles popped. Teammate Corey Maggette expects Jackson to miss three weeks.
- The Heat released Shaun Livingston today, to possibly make room for Alonso Morning. I will be watching this closely, because i desperately need blocks. Remind me again, why did I draft Greg Oden?
- Bye Bye Melo- Carmelo Anthony will miss three to four weeks with a broken hand. This really hurts the Nuggets chances, but is really good for J.R. Smith and Chauncey Billups owners.
- Antawn Jamison of the Wizards thinks that Agent Zero will be back sooner rather than later. Gilbert Arenas started practicing in December and is now playing 2 on 2. Most speculate that Arenas will not be back until April.
MLB:
- Could Carl Pavano be the 2009 version of Cliff Lee? Probably not, but he did sign with the Indians today. I honestly think that Pavano will pitch well in 2009, and might even be worth a late draft pick LATE in a draft. Though he does have injury history, a new start is sometimes all you need. Look at Cliff Lee. He had been up and down from AAA before last season.
- Giambi is about to go home- The Oakland Athletics are close to signing slugger Jason Giambi. I think this will be a great addition to the A’s. He loves that short porch. I will definitely have my eyes on him this May.
- Cubs Sign Milton Bradley- Boy do I love this signing, fantasy wise. Bradley will be protected really well in that lineup. If he can keep from going nuts and stay healthy, he really could be a steal. Everyone wants to talk about Josh Hamilton’s 2008, but what about Bradley?
NHL:
- Andy McDonald of the Blues is practicing again. He could be back soon, as the Blues are watching him pretty closely. I wouldn’t start or pick him up until after the All-Star break.
- Patrick Kane is out tuesday for the second straight game, due to an ankle injury.
- Forward Daniel Carcillo of the Phoenix Coyotes will miss tonight’s game because of “dental work.” You know you are a hockey player when you miss a game due to dental work. He is listed as day-to-day.
- Steve Sullivan of the Nashville Predators is looking to make the start this Saturday against the Blackhawks. It will be his first start in nearly two years. When he was playing, he was a pretty good fantasy option, so keep your eyes open
- Mats Sundin could make his debut with the Canucks on Wednesday. It looks like Sundin will join the same Line as former teammate Kyle Wellwood.
Goalie Notes:
- The Red Wings Goalies will split games this week. Ty Conklin will get the start tonight vs. the Blue Jackets. Chris Osgood will go Thursday against Dallas. This situation has gotten tougher for Fantasy owners, as they continue to split time. Unless Osgood steps it up a notch, it seems it will be this way for a while.
- Andrew Raycroft will start for the Avs tonight. I say give him a start. Raycraft is 6-1 on the season.
