Elton Brand, Chris Kaman, Andrew Bogut, Carlos Boozer, Andrew Bynum, and Now Al Jefferson. These are all key players that have and continue to miss a majority of the NBA season.
Jefferson adds his name to the list after tearing his right ACL on Sunday. Jefferson, who was averaging 23 points and 11 boards a game will miss the remainder of the season. I know it hurts fantasy owners. It stings. But don’t you worry, I have the remedy.
Because all you need in this world is love. Kevin Love.
Love is already averaging 9.3 points per game alongside 8.7 rebounds. According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, expect 35+ minutes a game from Love, with the absence Craig Smith and Al Jefferson. Holy Toledo.
Too bad fantasy stats didn’t calculate points for this….or even this (forgive me for the wretched, blood curdling reporter). Other players to watch include Rodney Carney, who could see more time off the bench. Depth and size will surely be an issue for the Timberwolves throughout the rest of the season.
Tuesday’s Players to Watch:
–Mike Conley, G Grizzlies- Conley scored 18 points and added four rebound and eight assist on Monday against the Hornets. Conley is a player to watch, simply because his numbers will continue to maintain solid numbers now that Kyle Lowry and Rudy Gay will be sidelined.
–Ramon Sessions, G Bucks- Sessions caught fire against the Rockets, scoring 26 points and adding seven steals. This comes after dropping a career-high 44 in his last game. Mr. Sessions is only owned in 61% of ESPN leagues. He is a good add as well due to the injury riddled Bucks roster, that includes the loss of Micheal Redd and Luke Ridnour.
– Marreese Speights, F Sixers- Speights is a reach at this point, but keep your eyes open. The big man added 24 points in last night’s action against the Suns.
Tuesday’s Injury Watch:
– Rudy Gay, G/F Grizzlies- Gay will not play Wednesday, and is likely out until after the all-star break. The high flying Gay will also miss the dunk contest.
– Jason Terry, G Mavs- Terry had surgery on his hand yesterday. There is no timetable for his return, according to the Dallas Morning News. Terry was averaging nearly 20 points per game.
– Drew Gooden, F Bulls- Gooden has begun practicing with the Bulls, but he won’t return until after the all-star break. That give Joakim Noah at least one more start at the center position.
Chris Paul, G Hornets- Paul missed action Monday, so it seems he will miss Wednesday and into the all-star break. The Hornets will also be without David West on Wednesday.
