C: John Buck, Kansas City- Some how some way for Buck, who has yet again found a way to win playing time over Miguel Olivo. Buck has started in the last three games, hitting .421 with five runs, three homers and nine rbis. of course he isn’t going to hold out at this rate, but he is worth a flier in AL Only leagues or as a backup catcher.
1B: Chris Duncan, Cardinals- Only owned in 23 percent of leagues, Duncan has been on a tear to start the season. He has a hit in every game since Sunday, and he has a bit of power. Two Homers and 11 RBIs to start the season. Here is the bonus, he is hitting well against lefties, and is outfield eligible.
2B: Skip Schumaker, Cardinals- I am still sold on the fact that Schumaker is going to develop into a .300 hitter. Only owned in 5% of leagues, this is an interesting pickup at this time. Schumaker moves into the leadoff spot in todays action against the Cubs, followed by Rasmus and Albert Pujols.
3B: Ty Wiggington, Baltimore- Owned in only about 5 percent of leagues, Wiggington is a good bet until early may, when Melvin Mora is supposed to return to the Orioles Roster. Mora is eligible to be back on the roster on April 28th.
SS: Yunel Escobar, SS- owned in only 30% of Leagues, Escobar is a guy to watch coming off of injury. He could be back in today’s action against the Pirates. He is hitting .343 with one homer and 5 RBIs. Dont expect much stolen base wise. Last year he only had two of them. He might of hit his peak, but he will have a high average when it is all said and done. If CHipper and Francouer stay healthy, he will score a lot of runs as well.
OF Nyjer Morgan, Pittsburgh- Morgan is owned in 35% of leagues, and was hitting above four hundred before going 0/4 on Friday. If you own Andrew McCutchen, this is a great handcuff until he makes it up to the majors in mid may. He only has three steals, but somehow he has muscled out some type of value.
OF Kosuke Fukudome, Cubs- .371 with three dingers and nine RBIs is worth picking up. he is available in 40 percent of leagues, so jump at it. Milton Bradley isn’t fully healthy and if Kosuke plays well, he stays in that lineup. Seven Extra base hits in seven games.
OF Elijah Dukes, Washington- With Lasting Milledge out, Dukes is hitting fifth in the new Nationals lineup. He hit a homer last night and is currently on a five game hit streak. Dukes will get a lot of RBI oppurtunities with Adam Dunn directly in front of him.
SP Zach Duke, Pitt- On monday, Duke went the distance against the Astros, giving up only four hits while striking out five and walking four. In his first start he gave up one run in 6 1/3 innings with 5 hits allowed. He walked 2 and struck out four. Duke had a great spring as well,
