Waiver Wire Lineup 3.0

by Featured

C: Kurt Suzuki, Oakland- The 25 year old is hot so far to start the season. He hit his first  homer on wednesday, but he has been hitting well all year. Owned in less than 10 percent of leagues, Suzuki is hitting .328 with a .361 OBP. His backup Landon Powell  played first base earlier this week, suggesting that Suzuki is going to play a ton of games this year.

1B: Casey Kotchman, Atlanta- There is a lot of pressure on Kotchman, who is filling some big shoes this season. He has had a slow start power wise, and is only owned in 27 percent of leagues, but it seems that the power is coming. Though he is hitting .291 with four RBIS, he does have a .400 slugging percentage and a .381 OBP.  Here is a symbol of his upcoming power. Kotchman has hit 4 doubles in the last six games.

2B:  Asdrubal Cabrera (SS/2b), Cleveland- Starting where he left off in the second half of the 2008 season, Cabrera is hitting .320 with a homer and 8 RBIs. This is a great guy to stack on the bench, and I would even consider dropping his teammate Johnny Peralta for him. A .443 OBP definitely helps at a weak offensive position.

3B: Ian Stewart Colorado- Stewart was one of the top prospects coming into this year, that I thought could really contribute. Earlier in the year I said if he gets into the lineup everyday, he could drive in 75 and hit 20 homers. He is well on his way, hitting .294 with three homers and 8 RBIs while being owned in 11% of leagues.

SS: Brandon Wood, Anaheim- This is a true flier, as Wood hasn’t made it into a game yet this season. We all love his power potential, so why not jump on the board early? Wood could play this weekend. Manager Mike Scoscia says his time will come though. THird time taking a chance on him is a charm right?

OF: Cody Ross, Florida- Only owned in 10% of leagues, but the man has been posessed. He went 0-3 last night, but before that he had 3 homers and 10 RBIs in the last four contests. He has batted seventh in all twelve games played, but he could move up in the lineup as he continues to develop offenseively.

OF: Mark Teahen, Kansas City- He is eligible in outfield, but is playing third base for the Royals right now for the injured Alex Gordon. Since moving to third base he has been hot. He is hitting .339 with 2 homers and 7 RBIs. He has also scored 9 runs.

OF: Denard Span, Minnesota- .323 7 runs and three stolen bases is a pretty solid start for all of the Denard Span Neysayers. For all of those worried about playing time, Span has played in all but one game. He is owned in 25% of leagues.

OF: Luke Scott, Baltimore-  Scott has had a hit in every game but one since april 12th. His power is a bit down so far, But I believe it will make it’s way to the forefront. His RBIs do come in bunches, but im feeling a bunch of RBIs soon. Especially with Felix Pie Struggling.

SP:  Doug Davis, Arizona- 20 strikeouts and a 3.67 ERA, 1.30 whip, but no wins is the name of the game for Davis so far this year. His first four starts have been pretty inconsistent, but if you need strikeouts, Davis has been consistent so far this year in that category, and he gives you a quality start every time out.

Scott Downs, Toronto Blue Jays- Taking over for B.J. Ryan, Scott Downs has nasty stuff as one of the best setup men in the league. Owned in 25% of leagues. He is having a good season so far, so wouldn’t that translate to saves? Especially with that win percentage.
