What About Favre?

by Fantasy News

Well, the good ole boy is back once more and now fantasy football is left to figure out what to do with this Brett Favre character. Minnesota’s running game is great, its receivers are mediocre and its defense is excellent. And also figure in that Favre will be playing half of his games in a dome. So what does that all mean?

I’m guessing all those elements will put Favre inside the top 15 quarterbacks if he’s healthy. And that’s a fairly big “if”. He’s an old man with an arm recovering from surgery and some previous damage to his rotator cuff already. He’s going to need some time to get ready and probably won’t hit his stride until the midpoint of the regular season.

Last year, he finished 12th among quarterbacks, averaging 21.8 points per game for the Jets. The Jets were also a run-oriented offense, but their receivers were a bit better. So if I had to guess – and at this point it’s a wild one – I see Favre finishing right around No. 15 among QBs. That makes him a pretty decent backup and a very borderline starter. Draft him accordingly.
