AFC Quick Hits: Week One

Cincinnati struggled to get in the endzone, but Chad Ochocinco may have regained his past form. That’s good news for his owners.

Denver’s passing game may have some life, but don’t expect Brandon Stokley to put up double digits every week.

Surprising to see Ricky Williams outscore Ronnie Brown in Week One. And none of the Dolphins receivers may be worth starting on a weekly basis.

The Jets defense is for real. And Mark Sanchez had a better debut than expected. We’ll see if it continues.

Baltimore’s defense gave up more points than usual. And Willis McGahee had a solid day. Perhaps the Ravens backfield will produce two consistent starters.

Reggie Wayne had a monster day. It will be interesting to see if he can do it again once Anthony Gonzalez returns.

Pittsburgh’s running game had some serious problems. I expect Rashard Mendenhall to eventually win the starting job.

Tennessee’s wide  receivers might be worth a look as free agents. Justin Gage in particular could approach double digits in most games as teams load up to stop the running game.

Brady Quinn was mediocre in the season opener for Cleveland. Braylon Edwards was just flat out bad.

Maurice Jones-Drew was a highlight for the Jaguars, but 12 points against the Colts defense is a little scary. Rookie tackles don’t usually promote offensive greatness.

Interesting development with the Kansas City offense yesterday. Can Matt Cassel play as well as Brodie Croyle did when he returns?

Houston should score more points than they did yesterday. As I said, I think the Jets defense is going to be good.
