Weekend Pick(up)s to Click: Week Ocho

Brett Cecil | Yardbarker

Heading into the eighth weekend of the season, here’s some Weekend Pick(up)s to Click from Fantasy CPR. Each player is owned in less than 30 percent of Yahoo! Standard leagues.

Last Weekend’s Pick(up)s to Click:

-   Derek Holland TEX | ND, 6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 5 K, 0 BB

-   Kris Medlen ATL | ND, 5.2 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 2 K, 2 BB

Season to Date Picks: 2-3, 78 IP, 61 H, 17 ER, 52 K, 21 BB, 1.96 ERA

Our season to date ERA went up a touch last week and we couldn’t muster a win to draw our record even, but neither Derek Holland or Kris Medlen delivered a performance that would have killed your weekly pitching numbers. At the same time by streaming two pitchers on the weekend you provided your club two chances to find a gem on the wire. That’s what we’ll shoot for this week.

Saturday Starter – Brett Cecil (14%) The Blue Jays’ young lefthander has mixed spots of brilliance with the occasional rough start this season, but his ratios (33 K / 12 BB) and matchup this weekend point directly towards a favorable result. Cecil starts Saturday against the hapless Orioles in Toronto. Don’t expect high strikeout numbers, but the chance of a win is fairly decent. Pickup Cecil if your team is in need of a win to turn the tide in your weekly matchup.

Sunday Starter – Anibal Sanchez (15%) The available hurlers who qualify under our 30% ownership limit is slim on Sunday. So, we’ll just go with one of the hottest pitchers in the bigs recently. The Marlins’ Anibal Sanchez has won each of his last three starts, and hasn’t allowed more than two runs since April 16 against Philadelphia. That’s the good news. The bad news is that Sanchez faces Philly this weekend. Nonetheless, let’s roll the dice and see if Sanchez can keep his hot streak going, even against the bashers in the Philly’ lineup.

Are you starting any spot starters in your weekend rotation? Let us know who you are putting your fantasy trust in down in the comments. Enjoy the weekend.
