With the MLB player draft just a few days away, Fantasy CPR chimes in with yet another dose of mock draftiness.

Some interesting facts about the MLB draft:

1965 was the year baseball began its annual draft of amateur players.

JD Drew, Stephen Drew and Tim Drew are the first set of brothers to all be taken in the first round of the MLB draft.

Danny Goodwin (1971) became the first player drafted #1 overall not to sign and also first player to be selected #1 overall twice. (1975)

In 1986 baseball phased out the June secondary phase and the January phase of the draft moving to its current format.

12.5% of players drafted actually make it to the majors.

67% of the players drafted in the first round make it to the majors.

54,666 players have been drafted in the regular June draft since its inception.

The draft is scheduled in June to reflect when players would graduate from high school.

Since 1965, 828 players from high school have been taken in the first round.

Since 1965, 719 players from college have been taken in the first round.

Rick Monday was the first player ever drafted. Taken in 1965 by the Kansas City A’s. Johnny Bench was taken with the 36th pick in the same draft.

In 1986, Bo Jackson was the first drafted player to sign a contract that was worth over $1 million

Since 1965, only 20 drafted players went straight to the majors.

Chris Sale is the only player to have made it to the majors from the 2010 first round.
