Fantasy CPR just finished drafting, but I didn't land one of these players on my team. (Picture source: nationallampoon.com)
Well, if you fantasy studs wanted any part in joining the Fantasy CPR fantasy football league you will have to wait until next year. The league is full and we have concluded the draft for the league. We here at Fantasy CPR wanted to have the draft this early because, when in the history of Football will you get to draft your players in a lockout?? I thought it would bring a different element to the draft, not knowing where all the Free agents will be going. You really had to prepare, and try to draft on value, as well as who might end up going where once free agency starts.
The league is a 12 team league. One QB, two RB’s, two WR’s, one flex, one TE, one K, and one D.
Scoring is set up like this: 6 points for all TD’s. 10 yards equals one point for RB, WR and TE. 25 yards equals one point for QB. This is a non PPR league.
The league was offered to fantasy players on the Internet along with some of my friends that wanted to join. Thanks for joining Mike B, Mike S, Stevey, Angel and Dan. These are my closest friends. Also, Mike B just had a baby girl Payton, and no he’s not a Peyton Manning fan. He’s from Chicago, so maybe his inspiration came from Walter Payton?? Not sure, but I like the name. Anyway, the point is he was still able to partake in the fantasy draft with a new born sitting on his lap. So, big ups to my boy Mike B. for making that happen.
Now, on to the most important part. What kind teams did people end up with. Well, to give you just an idea. I will let you in on who I drafted for my team. I had the 6th pick in the draft.
1st Pick: Ray Rice. I really liked that Rice fell to 6th. I don’t think Willis will be back with the Ravens this year.
2nd Pick: Steven Jackson. When you have a flex position I really try and traget RB’s early. I like the upside SJ39 has if he can stay healthy. Also, Josh McDaniel’s is now running the offence.
3rd Pick: Tony Romo. With all TD’s worth 6 pionts I really wanted to target a QB in the 3rd round. All the other stud QB’s were gone by this time. So, it was either Romo, Schub, or Big Ben. I went with Romo because of all the weapons he has.
4th Pick: Brandon Marshall. People are really down on Marshall this year. I thought he was a steel in the 4th.
5th Pick: Wes Welker. I was very happy to land Welker in the 5th. I like the one two punch at WR I have.
6th Pick: Joseph Addai. Addai was hurt almost all of last year. He is a free agent but I think the Colts bring him back. He is a great pass protector for Peyton. I like the upside he has in the offence to be a low end number two RB/high number three.
7th Pick: Kenny Britt. I couldn’t pass him up in the 7th round. I know he will miss some time because he can’t stay out of trouble, but I love his upside.
8th Pick: Brandon Jacobs. Hey, even if Bradshaw is still on the Giants. It’s a time share. Brandon did have over 800 yards with 9 TD’s last year. I was happy to draft him in the 8th.
9th Pick: Kellen Winslow. I really never like to draft a TE really. So, landing Kellen in the 9th was good value. I am high on the whole Tampa team this year. Kellen should end up top 10 at the position.
10th Pick: Tim Tebow. All the other back ups were gone. I think Orton gets traded, and Tebow ends up the starter. Even if Orton doesn’t get traded. Tebow could still start.
11th Pick: Plaxico Burress. This was kind of a reach, but I new if a waited another round he would be gone. In fact, my friend Mike S. said this after I drafted him. “You are lucky you picked him now, because I was going to take him this round if he was still there”. It’s a wait and see what happens with Burress.
12th Pick: Chicago Bears Defence. I am from Chicago, so this adds more fun in watching the games. Or, more of a headache!
13th Pick: Jordy Nelson. Jordy is one of my sleepers this year. If James Jones leaves, and Driver doesn’t play well, Jordy could be a great pick this year.
14th Pick: Mike Goodson. D-Will is getting traded, and John can’t stay healthy. You never know.
15th Pick: David Akers. I know the Eagles drafted that rookie kicker, but I don’t care Akers will have value even if he goes to another team. It’s only a kicker anyway.
Well that does it, look for more updates on the Fantasy CPR football league throughout the year.
Thanks for the time,
Christopher Halfer…AKA…Mr. Freakin’ Fantasy.
