Fantasy Sports Daily Rounds-December 24

Yesterday, football both college and pro’s took the day off, but there was still some important football news, as well as some solid NCAA hoops and NHL action. Here’s the pulse of fantasy sports last night:

As we get ready for a full Saturday slate of games in the NFL, the Steelers made the biggest fantasy football news, as they decided to sit Big Ben for this week’s game against the Rams. It looks like John Skelton will start for the Cardinals as Kevin Kolb recovers from his latest concussion. There will be several important game time decisions as well. As of now, Felix Jones, Vincent Jackson, and Deion Branch fit into that category. Marion Barber, Mark Ingram, Devin Hester, Colt McCoy, Jake Ballard, Marion Manningham, Asante Samuel, and Sam Bradford are expected to sit out.

In college hoops, the biggest upset was Wagner going into #13 Pittsburgh’s building and winning 59-54. This is the second troubling home lass for the Panthers as they lost earlier to Long Beach State at home and now head into a withering Big East schedule. In other top 25 action, #4 Louisville and #7 Baylor remained undefeated and #14 Wisconsin and #24 UNLV also won.

Yesterday, I gave you my draft recap for our League of Extraordinary Bloggers over on ESPN. They’ll be plenty more fantasy basketball analysis to come but here’s some perspective from 2 of the owners in the league, Buckets over Broadway and Nugg Love as we get ready for tip-off this Sunday.

Plenty of great sports action on tap for today, we’ve got more college bowl analysis coming your way throughout the day as we prep for the holiday season full of bowls. My streak for the Cash picks are also coming up right after the jump

In case you’re new to the site, check out this description of the game from ESPN and click on the link to follow the invitation to our FantasyCPR group.

Get in the action now:″

Here’s how I’m planning on picking to build on my modest W2 today:

1:00-Denver Broncos:The Broncos rush the QB and play solid D. The Bills have been getting shredded on the ground (28th in the league)which means that Tebow and McGahee should be able to tear it up and lead the Broncos to victory as I picked in the preview of Week 16.

4:15-San Francisco: Taking them this week is popular, but I picked them last week over the Steelers too. I’ll take ‘em but on the road in Seattle is a tough place to play so I wouldn’t put a long streak on it.

8:05-Southern Miss to win by double digits: In the Hawaii bowl preview (which will jump to the top of the page before gametime tonight in case you missed it)  I explained why I think Southern Miss will roll in this one behind dynamic QB Austin Davis. The key difference between these 2 teams that can put up points is that SMU has a defense that can stop their opponents while Nevada’s defense has been struggling.

current streak: w2

record for the month: 36-17
