Last night was a historic night for Drew Brees as he passed Dan Marino for the most passing yards in a season. Congratulations to him, and to all his fantasy owners this year. Some of you probably claimed the championship trophy for your league (in my 2 leagues 1 owner did, 1 owner didn’t). Congrats to all of you who won your championships and for the rest of us, there’s always next year… And the playoff editions of Fantasy Football which we’ll be looking at next week here at CPR… Speaking of playoffs, here’s the AFC and NFC playoff scenarios.
Drew Brees wasn’t the only high point scorer last night as Roddy White, Julio Jones, Pierre Thomas, and the Saints defense all put up good points on the final Monday Night Football game of the year. Brees and the Saints winning margin also was more than Roddy White’s receptions so my streak in Streak for the Cash is now up to W7. More on that after the jump…
In college football, the UNC Tar Heels looked flat while the Missouri Tigers destroyed them in the Independence Bowl to finish their season on a positive note. 2 Bowls tonight will allow other teams to do the same as the Western Michigan Broncos face off against Purdue at 4:30 in the Little Caesar’s Bowl, and later the Louisville Cardinals meet the NC State Wolfpack in the Belk Bowl… We’ll review those games before kickoff and also take a look at the Sun Bowl and the Meineke Car Care Bowl as our Bowl Mania Series continues here at FantasyCPR.

Missouri and New Orleans got my streak to 7. I’m within 1 of my best streak of the month now so it would normally be time to be cautious, but this close to the end of the month, it’s time to press hard so here’s my picks for today.
4:30-Western Michigan: As I explained here.
7:30-Atlanta Hawks: Hawks open their season on the road against a Nets team on the second half of the back-to-back. The Hawks should have a better year and be fresher for this one so I’ll go with my first NBA pick of the year.
10:50-LA Lakers: As a Celtics fan, this is a tough one, but I don’t see the Lakers staring 0-3 for the first time in 33 years since they’re at home and playing the non-playoff Jazz. If I’m at W9 I won’t take this pick just cuz I hate the Lakers and them breaking my longest streak would be painful, but they are the smart pick here.
Current Streak:W7
Record for the Month: 46-21
