Fantasy Golf: Group Invitation

by Fantasy

The official fantasy golf game of the PGA tees off this week with the season debut in Kapalua. They give out some pretty sweet prizes and it’s a very simple game and takes only minutes each week. It definitely gives you someone and something to cheer for each weekend as you catch the final rounds and helps you get to know the players not named Tiger or Phil throughout the tour.

The basic premise of the game is to pick a “foursome” from 3 different pools of players. The players are distributed and spread around so you can get a mix of well-known and not-so-well known players. Each week, you select a player from pool A, 2 from pool B, and another from pool C (usually lesser known commodities). You also select a second foursome for your bench which you can substitute before the start of any round. You get points based on overall score for the round and there’s bonuses for the top 3 finishers (with ties).

The only other thing you need to know is that you only get 10 starts for each player during the season. So if you go all out with Steve Stricker starts at the beginning of the year, you won’t have any left for the playoffs when he typically dominates… There’s plenty of strategy for such a simple game.

Check out my picks for the week, and at the bottom you’ll find our group info if you want to battle it out on the fantasy links this year.
