Yesterday went well for my picks with Michigan pulling off a squeaker in the Sugar Bowl despite the fact that their offense was entirely ineffective. My streak for the cash picks did well yesterday too, and I start today on a nice winning streak of 5 thanks to the Louisville and Alabama college hoops teams and Manchester City’s soccer dominance. Today I’ll be a little cautious with my streak, but there’s some solid options on the board so this is what my plan is for the day:
3:00-Newcastle United to lose by one, draw, or win againt Man U: Newcastle has been holding it’s own lately in the EPL especially at home. United is 2nd to Man City in the table but hasn’t been crushing teams on the road. In fact in 9 road games they’ve only won by 2 or more 3 times. Newcastle is 7th overall in the EPL but have just 2 losses in their 9 home games and only one of them came by 2+ goals. In their last game United lost to Blackburn at home, so they can even be beaten in this one. I wouldn’t touch Newcastle if they weren’t getting the extra goal, but I’m good with it as long as I get that goal and they’re at home. Give me the Magpies and the goal over United!
7:00-Duke by double digits: Duke’s been crushing everyone since they lost to OSU with an average winning margin of 25 during their 5 game win streak. They’ve beaten Temple the last 9 times they’ve played and I expect them to make it 10 by at least 10 and get some more green from the Blue Devils.
9:00-Texas: If I need a late pick, this is the one I like the most since Providence at home is too tough to pick SU to win by 15, but can’t pick against the Orange on a roll either. Texas should be able to handle Iowa State, but it is a road game in-conference so there’s no sure thing and I wouldn’t put a streak of more the 2 or 3 on it. Iowa St is 8-1 at home with wins over schools like Providence, Rice, and Iowa. They played Michigan tough at Michigan (10 points) so they’re no pushover. Texas though, has more talent and goes much deeper. I really like J’Covan Brown and the five freshmen who play consistently for the ‘Horns and think they’ll have a good year. They’ll need every win they can get in a tough big 12 so look for them to get it started here against the Cylcones.
Current Streak: W5
Record for the Month: 6-3
