LaMarcus Aldridge and the Blazers got by the Lakers last night and now travel to Phoenix where they'll meet Steve Nash and the Suns. I think Aldridge plays well in the first half for my green. (AP Photo/Don Ryan)

Streak for the Cash Picks-January 6

Yesterday, I had my streak over at ESPN’s picking game “Streak for the Cash” up to 3 before UCLA pulled off the upset and defeated Arizona while killing my streak. The good news is, there’s still plenty of time in the month and my overall percentage is still good. The bad news is that I start today on an L1. Here’s how I plan on refinding my green streak.

12:00-Verona win: I’m starting today in Italian Serie B (2nd division). Verona is in second place in the table with a 11-5-4 record and they’ve won their last 4 home games. Their opponent Modena sits 19th with a 4-8-8 record . They’ve fared better on the road recently, but I still like Verona to pull this one out. It should be a low scoring game, but I think 2-0 or 2-1 is how this one ends up.

7:05-New Jersey Devils: The Panthers will be on the second half of a back-to back against the Rangers and Devils having lost 5 road games in a row. The Devils had been playing well (winning 9 of 12) until dropping their last 2, the most recent being a crushing by the Bruins on Wednesday. You never can be too sure with regular season NHL, but I’ll take the home-town Devils over the visiting Florida Panthers.

10:35-Lamarcus Aldridge to outscore Nash’s points and assists: Aldridge has started out the season on fire averaging 23.2 points per game and has 30 and 28 in his last 2. Nash meanwhile has struggled to open the year (averaging  assists and 11 points), but has shown signs of breaking out his last 2 games. This will be a fun, close prop, but I think the Blazers will pull away in this one and that Nash may find himself on the bench for more time than usual, plus I like Felton’s D.

Record for the month: 10-5

Current Streak: L1
