Streak for the Cash Picks-January 7

Last night, my streak went down with the Blazers in Phoenix. Portland was out of it from the beginning against the Sunds and they looked to be exhausted from their big win over the Lakers the night before. The loss drops their record to 5-2, and I’ve picked them twice so far this month and am 0-2. Somebody in Portland can just pay me to stay away from their pick and they’ll finish 64-2…So all that to say, I start today L1 and am looking to get it going by making these picks.

10:00-Newcastle United: This is an FA cup match not an EPL game although it does feature 2 EPL squads. The Magpies of Newcatle have played well and are up to 6th in the EPL table, while Blackburn is dead last. Blackburn has lost 3 road games in a row in FA Cup competition, and I don’t see them getting a win here.  Although a draw is possible, it’s a good early pick to get things rolling today…

1:00-Boston Bruins-The Bruins have been absolutely on fire lately, and the Canucks and Bobby Lu just can’t seem to get it going in Boston. The Bruins so far this year have scored more goals and allowed fewer goals than any team in the NHL. They have exactly doubl their opponents goals with a total aggregate of a stunning 138-69.

7:00-Chicago Bulls-The Bulls may be tired from playing a back-to-back on the road against Orlando and Atlanta, but Atlanta will be playinf its 3rd consecutive game and the first 2 have gone into OT. Atlanta lost to the Heat in triple OT and beat the Bobcats last night. The Bulls have been rolling and D-Rose should be able to dominate Jeff Teague or whoever else they throw at him. Joe Johnson’s shot has been off, and the Hawks will most likely be out of gas in this one.

10:30-Utah Jazz-Golden State will probably be without Stephen Curry again in this one and after trying to keep up with Kobe and the Lakers have to return home and face the smothering defense of the Jazz. The Jazz have bounced back after a rough start and behind Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap have won their last three. I’m not super-confident in this one so if I’m W3, I’ll sit tight. This is the best late game pick though so if I need ‘em, I’ll hopefully be able to enjoy some nice Jazz to wrap up my Saturday….
