ESPN Streak for the Cash game rolls on into Thursday with a full and varied slate on the board. There’s everything from NHL Hockey to PGA Tour Golf in the desert. My 3 picks for today go futball, puck night, and then round ball to close things out.
I’m stuck in neutral lately with my picks as I start another day with a W1 after grabbing a win late in the prop for the 3rd quarter Clips/Mavs game. Today I’m hoping to get it in gear and get my streak built up with these picks:
3:00-Inter Milan to win by 2 or more goals: 2 Serie A clubs meat in the Coppa Italia in Milan. Inter has been in top form as of late winning 6 in a row and 3 at home by 2 or more. Genoa has been struggling in league play especially on the road. Inter will be most likely missing Diego Forlan due to injury, but is expected to have its full lineup otherwise. Since Inter Milan is at home and they’ve done so well lately, I think they’re the best pick of the afternoon games and hopefully will get me to a nice W2 headed into the evening games.
7:00-Toronto Maple Leafs: Toronto hosts Minnesota in a matchup of two stumbling teams trying to hold onto their playoff hopes as the sit in the 9th spot (first to miss the playoffs) in their respective conferences. Toronto has lost 3 in a row, but will reportedly have all new lines for this one. The Wild meanwhile haven’t won in their last 10 road games and after a hot start, have tumbled down the standings. I think Toronto’s the pick in this time slot.
10:40-Utah Jazz: I’m confused as to why 57 percent of streakers like the Mavs in this one (at time of writing). Utah is 7-1 at home, they’ve won 8 of 9 this month, and they didn’t play last night while the Mavs played the late game in LA against the Clips. Utah just dismantled the Clippers in their last game, while LA bounced back and beat Dallas last night at the Staples Center. The Mavericks have a solid scoring defense giving up just 88.7 points per game, but are 0-6 when allowing 90 or more points while winning 8 of 9 their opponents score less than 80. So will Utah get past 90? If recent history hold true, they’ll have no problem since in their last 3 games (all wins) they’ve reached at least 106. The Jazz aren’t as “big-name” or as hyped as the Mavs, but they have the distinct advantage in this one.
Current Streak: W1
Record for January: 33-25
