Saturdays aren’t filled with football anymore, but there’s still plenty to pick from with golf, hockey, hoops, and soccer keeping the pickin’ board well stocked with props and straight-up picks.
Yesterday, I finally got some momentum and went 3-3 on my picks. I needed it, since I started with nothing at the beginning of the day. Here’s my plan to keep it going:
12:40-David Toms or Tie: This is an 18 hole prop, and my only hesitation is that I miss so many other picks by taking this one. Mickelson has struggled at this tournament the first 2 days as he shakes off the rust of the offseason. Toms is tied for the lead and is a veteram so won’t be spooked by that fact.
6:10-Syracuse by double digits: The Orange are rolling and even though this is a conference game on the road, I have the confidence to go Orange. Part of that is due to the opponent. The Irish are 3-3 in conference and have lost their last 2 to UConn at home and on the road at Rutgers. Syracuse looks to hold onto their #1 for another week and go to 21-0. I’m picking them to do it by double figures.
10:35-LA Kings: The Kings host the Avs in the best pick of the late window. If I’m at 5, I’ll probably sit this out. If something earlier goes awry, I’ll try to finish with the Kings at home where they’re 4-0-2 in their last 6 against Colorado and 8-1-6 since making a coaching change just before Christmas. I’m not super-confident, but I’d lean toward the home team to avoid going 0-3 against Colorado this year.
