Streak for the Cash Picks-January 31

As we close out January, there’s some early soccer on the board followed by more basketball and hockey. My picks went down again yesterday leaving me staggering to the end of the month with an L2.

The Thunder got stomped in LA and not just because Blake Griffin replaced posterize with Perkinized with one of the craziest dunks ever seen. (Some are saying best ever, not sure I’m ready to go that far yet, but it was crazy good). The OKC loss means I’m trying to bounce back early and here’s my plan:

3:00-Manchester United win by 2+: At home ManU’s taken 3 of their last 4 by 2 or more and have a tendency to polish off opponents quickly and by scoring profusely on them. When the 2 sides met at Stoke earlier this year, the two teams played to a draw, but Stoke City has since leveled out at 8-6-8 which is good enough for 8th in the table. It’s no slam dunk, but I’ll go with the Red Devils to get me the green.

7:00-New York Rangers: The Rangers lead the Eastern Conference in points with 66 and they start off their 2nd half of the season by coming back from the All-Star break by visiting their bitter rivals the New Jersey Devils. These teams met on December 20 in NJ and the Rangers rolled 4-1. The Rangers have been the better hockey team thus far this year, and since rest will be equal and NY knows they can win there, I’ll take New York to end the month.

Current Record for January: 50-43-2
