A fresh month means a clean start for everyone in Streak for the Cash as all streaks are reset to zero. It’s a 29 day month so leap into our Streak for the Cash group and see if you can out-streak us during this 2nd month of 2012.
If you were on a winning streak, congratulations. If you lost in a shootout like I did with the Rangers, condolences. Either way, we all start 0 and here’s where I anticipate green today:
1:00-Ghana win: It’s not as easy as 98 percent of the people think since Guinea isn’t that bad (ranked 79) and is 1-1 in the African Nations Cup which this match is a part of. Guinea needs a win to advance; Ghana needs just a draw. Because they need just a draw, the Ghanians may be content to sit back and let it end in a tie, but I think they’ll press and get the win. They are the superior team (26th ranked) and are 2-0 in this competition.
7:00-Georgetown: Both Big East powerhouses Georgetown and UConn come into this matchup off of losses. Georgetown had won 3 in a row before losing a tough game at Pittsburgh in their last game. UCONN has lost its last 3 games to ND, Tennessee, and Cincinnati by 2, 2, and 3 points. If this game were in Connecticut, I’d take the Huskies. Instead, the Hoyas host this one at the Verizon Center in DC which is their home court where they are 10-1 on the year.
10:40-LA Clippers: The Clippers have put on a show in their last 2 games defeating the Nuggets and Thunder. Now they’ll head to Utah where they’ve been dominated recently by a Jazz team that always plays well at home. It’s no lock to be sure since just 2 weeks ago Utah won by 20 in Salt Lake City, but LA was without Chris Paul. CP3’s return has kicked the Clip-ship into high gear and I think they’ll be able to keep on rolling right through the shorthanded Jazz who will be without starting SG Raja Bell and possibly starting C Al Jefferson. The absence of Jefferson may leed to Jordan and Griffin having a dunk-fest with Chris Paul providing all the lobs they can handle.
