Today’s streak-board is full of golf and soccer early with hoops both pro and college and a little hockey rounding out the competition this evening. Yesterday was a good day for my streak as the Warriors, Duke and Chievo Verona got me 3 more wins to get my winning streak to 6. Now’s where things get tricky… I’ve got to try and minimize risk and try and slowly build this thing throughout the month. I’ll still give a pick for every major window, but I won’t be taking every one with my entry. Here’s today’s Picks:
2:16-Rickie Fowler or tie: The Tie option is nice although slightly less appealing over 18 rather than just 9 holes. Yesterday Phil edged Fowler by 1 and I expect both to continue to play well (good for me since they’re on my fantasy team). I’ll give Rickie the slight edge only due to recent form an general consistency. Phil has the potential to go lower, but also the potential for train wreck on ever tree. I won’t put W6 on this, but I’d take Fowler with 3 or less.
7:30-Minnesota Timberwolves: The Wolves visit the Nets in New Jersey for our final game of the night. NJ beat Detroit Wednesday in the Prudential Center (NJ) while Minnesota fell at home to the Pacers. The Nets can get really hot from deep and win this, but short of that I don’t see how this banged up group will compete with up-and-coming Rubio-Love combo. They’ve won their last 2 on the road and Rubio has been dominant. Watching him and Deron Williams go at it will be worth tuning in for. The Wolves will hopefully take my streak to 7 as I feel confident they’ll handle the Williams, Williams, Williams, Williams, and Humphries show. The Nets also have multiple injuries to deal with and in their lat game had just 8 available. They could tire fast if that’s the case once again.
10:30-Denver Nuggets: This comes down to the fact that Denver at home is 7-3 and that LA on the road is just 2-7. Add to that the history that the Nuggets won at home against the Lakers by 9 earlier this year and it become apparent that the Nuggets are the easy choice at home. The only tricky part is that Denver did play last night and the Lakers did not. I won’t be putting a W7 on this just in case Kobe goes off, but if I lose early I’ll bounce back with this one. I’d put anything less than a W5 on it without hesitation.
So far this month: 6-1
Current Streak: W6
