Today’s Streak for the Cash picks on ESPN span continents, sports, and rivalries. The day starts with the African Nations Cup semifinals and then later today there’s plenty of hockey and hoops (both college and pro) to keep everybody pickin’ happy. I’m hoping they put up another late pick besides the over/under in points inf the first half in Porland, but here’s my picks for the early part of the day.
Yesterday, my W8 went down with an early soccer pick. I got things turned back around with Kentucky, but went back into the red with Purdue keeping it close.
11:00-Zambia Win or Draw: Zambia has been the surprise of the tournament quite possible and is 3-1-0 while outscoring there opponents 8-3. Ghana is also 3-1-0 with a 6-2 aggregate. It took Ghana extra time to get to this point as they played Tunisia to a 1-1 regulation draw before scoring in the 110th minute to reach the semi-finals. The pressure will be on Ghana who is the big time favorite, but I think the Zambians can hang with them and get at least a draw during regulation which will get me the early green.
7:00-Philadelphia 76ers: I know that the Spurs have been playing much better lately and have won their last 2 road games both at Memphis as part of their 5 game winning streak. The Spurs, though, are still just 4-8 on the road. The Sixers meanwhile have been rolling everyone that visits the Wells Fargo Center in Philly. They beat the Lakers Monday night to move to 13-3 on the year at home. Coach Doug Collins has his team playing true “team” basketball spreading around the scoring and the minutes while Lou Williams has emerged as their closer off the bench. I think their depth and the home-court advantage get the Sixers the W.
If there’s another late pick I’ll let you know my pick, but as it stands I’ll take the over on Hou/Por if I’m in the red, but I’ll wait if I’m on a winning streak.
So far this Month: 9-3
Current Streak: L1
