Today’s streak board over on ESPN starts with some golf and then there’s a lot of hockey and some serious hoops on the slate for tonight. Yesterday, the always unpredictable NBA got me with the Spurs pulling the upset on the road in Philly so I come into today looking for some green. Here’s what I’m planning on picking:
1:01-69 or fewer: Tiger’s on my fantasy team which means I’m biased, but I think he’s going to have a great tournament. He’s coming off a couple of good international finishes and loves Pebble Beach. He’s playing on Spyglass Hill not the main Pebble course, but I still expect him to be at 3 under or better by the end of the day.
7:05-Mississippi State winning margin: State is 7 1/2 point favorites at home and Ole Miss struggles shooting the ball from deep. They average 4.5 per game. The reason this prop isn’t a slam dunk is that the Rebels (Ole Miss) beat the Bulldogs Miss St) at Ole Miss by 7 January 18. This is a huge in-state rivalry and I see the Bulldogs out for revenge at home, where they are unbeaten since losing to Akron all the way back in early November. Both these teams are very good at home, so I’ll take the team that’s at home.
9:05-Arizona winning margin: The Wildcats host Colorado in the second college hoops pick of the night. The Buffalos are a young and improving team, but struggle mightily on the road. They’re 2-6 on the road this year and average about 6 three-pointers a game. The spread here is ‘Zona -7. If this game was in Boulder, it would be a different story. I’ll take Arizona to put the beat down on CU at home in Tuscon. This prop could easily go the other direction, but I like it better than the Miami-Va Tech prop.
11:05-St. Mary’s: Gonzaga is a bananas arena, but the Gaels play there every year and won just last year. They beat the Zags by 21 at home just 4 weeks ago. This one will be much closer and I won’t put more than a W1 on it, but I do think St. Mary’s can beat the Bulldogs even at the McCarthey Athletic Center. It’s sure to be a great game, too bad we can’t pick that….
