Streak for the Cash Picks-February 10

A full night of games in the NBA and NHL kick off the weekend tonight with a full Streak for the Cash board. There’s plenty of options early with the Thunder in Utah as the marquee late pick.

After a good day yesterday with Mississippi State and Arizona covering their opponent’s 3-pointers made, I’m coming into today with  a nice W3 and after sitting this morning’s gold and this afternoon’s soccer I’m headed to the ice for my first pick today:

7:35-Buffalo Sabres: The Sabres host the Stars as they look to continue their recent run of success while welcoming Thomas Vanek back to the lineup. They’ve won 4 of 5 including an impressive 6-0 win over the Bruins on Wednesday. As is so often the case with hockey, the reason for their success can be traced to a hot goalie. Ryan Miller  is 4-0-1 (0.95 goals-against average) with two shutouts in his last five starts. The Stars are playing their second night in a row after winning last night in Columbus and remain on the fringe on the playoffs just 2 point out of the 8 spot. Back-to-back on the road against a team with momentum and a hot goalie seems like too much to ask of Dallas though, so I’ll go Buffalo in this one to hopefully get to a W4

10:35-Oklahoma City Thunder: The Thunder play another back-to-back on the road and this time head into the tough environment of the EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Late City to take on the Jazz. The Thunder are 3-1 in the second half of back-to-backs on the road and they’ll be looking to bounce back after losing last night in Sacramento. I think they’ll be able to with the Durant/Westbrook combo continuing to dominate and get OKC another road win in a tough arena for visitors to play (Jazz are 11-4 at home). If I’m on a W4, I’ll sit this out, but I do think it’s the best late play on the board for tonight.

Current streak: w3

Record for the month: 13-5
