ESPN’s reporting that Peyton Manning will be cut by the Colts. It’s a shocking move that everyone saw coming, if that’s possible. Rob Lowe hasn’t said anything yet, but Chris Mortensen and others are confirming the move.
Obviously, this changes the face of the coming free agency period as there’s definitely a new “biggest fish” in the free agency pool. They’ll be plenty of speculation and estimation of where he’s going and if he’ll be any good over the coming weeks. The obvious potential landing places for Manning are Washington (they always make a splash in the offseason) and Miami (QB need). I like Seattle as a nice fit if they can draft Ryan Tannehill to develop and Manning to play now. I also think Arizona is a really good fit. Some other teams that have QB’s but could be interested are the Chiefs, Browns (depending on the draft), 49ers (if they decide to abandon Alex Smith), and Jets. It’s definitely vaulted to the #1 story of the offseason. Make sure to check back here when Peyton finds a new place to see what it does to his fantasy stock and the impact on the rest of the players on that team.
