Laurent Robinson signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars for 5 years and 32.5 million dollars. Robinson tweeted “Its official everyone. Taking my talents to Jacksonville #Jags” from his twitter account @LaurentRobinson While many think Jax is overpaying (and I would agre), for fantasy football he makes an interesting option. Remember, he wasn’t even with the Cowboys till week 3, but he took advantage of his opportunity with Dez Bryant and Miles Austin battling injuries. In his 14 games, Robinson caught 54 passes for 858 yards and an impressive 11 touchdowns. He was one of Romo’s favorite red zone targets.
It’ll be fascinating to see if he and Blaine Gabbert develop a connection. He will be the #1 receiver most likely, depending on what else Jacksonville does. He could be a nice WR2 but has some serious risk since he’s only had one successful season (been in the league 5) and we’ve never seen Gabbert make any receiver fantasy-worthy yet. If you can take him as a WR3 and get some “safe” options, he’s worth a gamble, but know the risks in case he proves to be a 1-year fantasy wonder.
