There’s a dozen matchups available for us today in Streak for the Cash and hopefully we can find the green hidden among a few trap games. The Heritage got things started this morning and the rest of the day there’s more golf, some MLB, Italian Soccer, NBA, and the NHL playoffs. While there’s some that scream “stay away” in my mind, there’s also a couple inviting ones at night.
Yesterday, I put my streak on the trusty right arm of Roy Halladay and the Phillies offense came through against a still-shaky Josh Johnson and the Phitin Phils ran my win streak to 6. Overall I went 2-2 but the only confident pick I had ended up in the green.
Here’s what I like today with very brief explanation:
1:05-Detroit Tigers: The Tigers will look to bounce back from their first loss behind former Arkansas Razorback Drew Smyly in his major league debut. Jeff Niemann will start for the Rays who will be looking to take the series from the Tigers after rallying in the 9th last night. Detroit’s offense is so potent, that even with the rookie lefty on the hill, I’ll take them. Confidence Meter: 3 (out of 10)
7:35-Boston Bruins: Bruins open title defense at home. The Caps aren’t what they used to be, especially at goalie where they’ll go with playoff newbee Braden Holtby. The Bruins get to skate in front of last year’s playoff MVP Tim Thomas. Confidence Meter: 7
10:40-Dallas Mavericks: Dallas needs this game, the Warriors have stunk lately, and they played last night while the Mavs didn’t. The only thing that scares me is that 98% of streakers (as of now) are going Dallas and that brings into play discussions about the curse associated with such high percentages. Still though, I think the Mavs are desperate enough and the Warriors are thin enough that they’ll pull out the road victory they need even though Oakland is a very tough place to play. Confidence Meter: 6
Current Streak: W6
Overall Record for the month: 18-19
Picks with Confidence +5: 11-6
