Streak for the Cash Picks, April 15

A Busy weekend in Streak for the Cash continues with an impressive 22 matchups on the Streak Slate for today. There’s everything from women’s college softball to more NHL playoffs. There’s MLB, NBA, PGA, and college baseball along the way.

Yesterday my quick picks didn’t fare so well, but I did make a nice last second comeback with the Blackhawks to get into the green coming in to today. Here’s how I’m building my green:

12:05-Detroit Red Wings: Detroit stole the game they needed on the road, now they get to come home. They’re incredible at Joe Louis Arena where they won a record 31 home games this season and they are 6-0 in their last 2 playoff series with the Predators in Detroit. One of their regular season losses at home did come to Nashville, so it wouldn’t be the first time it’s happened, but I don’t think it’s likely that the Red Wings drop this one. Confidence Meter: 6 (out of 10)

1:35-Washington Nationals: The Nats look to finish a 4-game sweep of the Reds and turn things over to Ross Detwiler who looked great in his first start. The Reds who have struggled offensively against Washington counter with Mike Leake who lost his first start against the Cardinals. The Nats have won 5 in a row and I think they’ll make it 6. I’ll go with the Wings, but if you’re staying off the ice the Nats I think they’re the best early baseball pick. Confidence Meter: 4

3:35-LA Lakers: The Lakers have too much size and the Mavs have played too many road games in a row. Confidence Meter: 5

4:10-Seattle Mariners: Blake Beavan probably deserved to win his first start against the Rangers, but will face an A’s team that doesn’t have much punch. The Mariners are at home and are 4-2 against the A’s already as the divisional rivals face off for the final time until June. Confidence Meter: 4

8:00-Denver Nuggets: The Nuggets have been very good at home and host the Rockets for a pivotal game as they start a home-and-home tied for 7th in the Western Conference. Seeding for the playoffs is on the line and with the Suns making a playoff push, the loser of the 2 games (if they don’t split them) may find it difficult to stay in the playoff picture at all. The Nuggets have won their last 4 at home while Houston has lost its last 2 (at their home) to Utah and Phoenix. This one will be a good one, but I think Denver’s mile-high homecourt makes all the difference in this one. Confidence Meter: 6

Current Streak: W1

Overall Record for the month: 23-23

Picks with Confidence +5: 13-8
