It’s Marathon day in Boston! Although there’s no marathon picks, the annual 11:05 Patriots’ Day Red Sox game is on the board as the first of the 14 matchups on the board. There’s plenty more baseball with some English soccer, NBA playoff race, and NHL first-round playoff series games. There’s a few props, but most are straight-up picks.
After a rough start with the Wings at home falling to Phoenix, I finished well with the Lakers, Mariners, and Nuggets. Unfortunately for my personal streak I was only able to get Denver, but hopefully you got the green and are ready to roll this Monday. Here’s the picks I like the most.
11:10-Boston Red Sox: The Red Sox look to close out the 4-game sweep of the Rays and get back to .500 behind converted reliever Daniel Bard. Bard gave up 5 runs in 5 innings his first time out, but showed signes of figuring things out towards the end of his outing. The Sox hitters typically do just fine with “Big Game James” and he has done historically horrendous at Fenway (1-0 with a 6.75 ERA). Confidence Meter: 7 (out of 10)
7:05-Philadelphia 76ers: Phily travels to Orlando but the Magic clinched the playoffs playing in Cleveland just last night. They’ll be without Hedo Turkoglu, Dwith Howard, and probably Glen Davis. The Sixers need this game to stay where they want to be in the playoff race. I think the Sixers will come with some energy and take the wind out of the Magic early and cruise to with W. Confidence Meter: 6
10:15-Philadelphia Phillies: Tim Lincecum has looked horrible in 2 starts, and Roy Halladay has looked great. In a rematch of the 2 games these dueling aces pitched in the NLCS in 2010 (split 1-1), these 2 will again face off at AT&T park tonight. The Giants have given Doc Halladay some trouble, and it’s baseball so anything can happen, but I’ll go with current form and the Phitin’ Phils to close out my night in the green out west. Confidence Meter: 7
Current Streak: W1
Overall Record for the month: 26-25
Picks with Confidence +5: 14-9
