Streak for the Cash Picks, April 21

Saturday’s are always jam-packed on ESPN’s Streak for the Cash picking game. Today is no exception as we get 21 matchups to chose from with props, playoffs, and Primera (Spanish soccer) being just some of the highlights. The EPL got things rolling this morning, but there’s plenty of baseball, hockey, basketball, and soccer to fill the rest of the day.

The Brewers late-inning magic finally wore off as the Rockies beat them with a single in the 9th from Michael Cuddyer that snapped my 5-game streak. With the busy board today, here’s how I’m getting back in the green line:

1:10-San Francisco Giants: I like Ryan Vogelsong as a spot starter option in fantasy baseball and I think that the Giants will be able to pull this one out behind a solid start from him. As they showed last night, they can win games late as well winning in the 10th in dramatic fashion. The Mets started the season well, but have tailed off losing their last 3 in a row. The Giants seem to be getting on a roll so I’m pretty confident in this one. Confidence Meter: 6 (out of 10).

5:35-Steve Nash: Nash and the Suns need a win over the visiting Nuggets in their continued chase for the NBA Playoffs. No matter what happens, if these two teams win the rest of their games, they’ll both be in the scrum for the Western Conference. Nash is the leader of the Suns team and they’re at home so I think he’ll have a big game. Lawson is definitely capable of scoring in bunches, but Nash’s assists make him the safer pick here. Confidence Level: 3

7:35-St. Louis Blues: The Blues will try and finish off the Sharks and move on to the 2nd round of the NHL Playoffs. The Blues took both games in San Jose and will return home for game 5. The Blued also swept the regular season series and have kept the Sharks offense in check all year. I think St. Louis will claim their first playoff series win since 2002. Confidence Level: 4

April 16, 2012; Salt Lake City, UT, USA; Utah Jazz shooting guard Gordon Hayward (20) dunks during the second half against the Dallas Mavericks at Energy Solutions Arena. The Jazz defeated the Mavericks 123-121 in triple overtime. Mandatory Credit: Russ Isabella-US PRESSWIRE

10:35-Jazz by double digits: The Magic are thin right now, missing more than just Dwight Howard. The Jazz need this game and are really good at home (22-8). This is the only time the 2 teams meat this regular season and since the Magic are at way less than full strength while the Jazz are peaking I think Utah wins this one easily. Gordon Hayward is fun to watch and if he and Devis Harris are on like they were last game this one could get ugly quickly. Confidence Level: 5

Current Streak: L1

Overall Record for the month: 31-34

Picks with Confidence +5: 18-12
