Streak for the Cash Picks, April 24

Things never slow down in ESPN’s Streak for the Cash with another 14 matchups to choose from on this busy Tuesday. After Ukranian Soccer kicks off this mornings action (not an official pick, but go under), we’ve got the Champions League Semifinals followed by a night full of Playoff Hockey, early season baseball, and late season NBA hoops.

Yesterday, my most confident pick went down when the Yankees scored in the first of Derek Holland but I was able to dodge that bullet in my own Streak as I was out of coverage and unable to get to my entry until after the pick was closed. I ended up with a 2-gamer thanks to my other 2 picks and a big night from Cody Ross and my Red Sox. Here’s the picks I like in today’s action.

2:45-Barcelona win by 2 or more: Barcelona needs to win to advance after losing 1-0 at Chelsea. Barca is lights out at home and I really don’t see the Blues pulling this one out even though they’ve been better in UEFA than the EPL. Barca needs to win by 2 in regulation for this prop which would get them into the final. Chelsea surprised me before, but i think Barcelona will restore order in this one. Confidence Meter: 3 (out of 10)

7:10-Tampa Bay Rays: The Rays send David Price to the hill as they face the struggling Angels. The Rays are 5-1 at home and Price dominates at the Trop. He’ll be opposed by Ervin Santana who is 0-3 on the year with an ERA of 6.75. The Angels are a good team, but they haven’t played like it yet. I’ll go with the Rays to take this one, but it’s baseball so anyone can beat anyone on any given day. Confidence Meter: 7

April 4, 2012; Salt Lake City, UT, USA; Utah Jazz power forward Paul Millsap (24) comes from behind to get his hand on the shot of Phoenix Suns forward Markieff Morris (11) as shooting guard Gordon Hayward (20) also defends during the first half at Energy Solutions Arena. 10:45-Utah Jazz: The Jazz can wrap up the 8th spot in the Western Conference and finish filling in the playoff teams with a win at home tonight. The Suns have beaten the Jazz both times they’ve played, but the Jazz have won 3 in a row and 6 of their last 9. Devin Harris and Gordon Hayward have stepped up and joined the 2 big men-Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson-to lead Utah to control their destiny as they face off against the Suns who are just 5-5 in their last 10 and lost to Denver at home in their last game Saturday. This’ll be a great game with all the NBA world watching. Confidence Meter: 6

Current Streak: W2

Overall Record for the month: 37-38

Picks with Confidence +5: 19-15
