Streak for the Cash Picks, April 28

Things return to normal in ESPN’s Streak for the Cash land after a frenzied, frenetic stunt day to celebrate the NFL Draft. As the days in the month wind down, it’s time to set your goal and try and reach it over the next few days. If you’ve got a long streak, unfortunately you can’t sit around and wait for a matchup you love since everything rests on May 1. Today’s 11 picks include plenty of baseball tonight, some PGA Tour action this afternoon, and the first Game 1 of the second round of the NHL Playoffs.

After a 15-7 prop day yesterday, I ended up with only a winning streak of 1. I had it up to 6 at one point but just kept on picking one too many. The Cardinals got me with Michael Floyd who weighs 220 (prop was 254) and then I lost the Chargers pick by about 2 seconds. I tried to change it to AOC but it locked just minutes before when I realized that they would probably go Melvin Ingram. So I’m coming in on a W1 looking to build with these picks.

1:30-Webb Simpson-Simpson was 3 strokes better in the first round. I like Bubba alot; I’m just not sure he’s fully engaged here on a course he admittedly doesn’t like (although he won here last year). Simpson lost in the playoff last year and I think he’ll end up with the better round today. This will definitely take you out of the soccer prop but you should be back in time for baseball. Confidence Level: 4

7:05-Detroit Tigers-The Tigers need a win after being swept by the Mariners and will send their ace to the hill against the Yankees to get it. Verlander has pitched very well this season and I think he’ll outduel Ivan Nova and the Tigers bats will wake up. It’s in the Bronx, and the Tigers lefty’s will be able to enjoy the short right-field porch. Anytime  I can take a true ace, I like my chances. Confidence Level: 7

9:05-Nashville Predators: After watching a little (just a little) of the Preds-Wings series, I’m in on the Predators. Phoenix is good at home, but Nashville did have 6 more wins in the regular season and beat Phoenix twice at the Jobing.com Arena (that’s where the Coyotes play). This should be a tough hard-fought defensive minded hockey series with goals hard to come by and goalies on display. Give me the Preds, but more importantly some hard-fought NHL Playoff action. Confidence Level: 4

Current Streak: W1 (15-7 yesterday’s stunt)

Overall Record for the month: 56-48

Picks with Confidence +5: 21-16
