It’s a beautiful day in the Streak for the Cash world as everyone starts fresh with a 0 streak in the new month. No matter how you did last month, or what your streak was, it’s all gone now and we’re off and running with 14 matchups on the Streak board for today. Soccer picks early this afternoon are followed by the typical-for-this-time-of-year array of MLB, NBA Playoffs, and NHL Playoffs. ESPN is featuring lots of NBA Props today so people can get their streak up and going and so people will pay close attention to the ongoing NBA Playoffs.

Yesterday, I finished April with a W2 thanks to the Mavs keeping it close, and the Heat not. I finished 60-54 with my overall picks and 46-38 on my personal entry. My picks with over 5 (out of 10) on the confidence meter ended up 24-17. All that’s gone now as we zero everything out and start May fresh. Here we go!

12:00-Chievo Verona win/draw: AS Roma is the bigger name and are higher in the Serie A table (7th over 12th). The reason why I’ll take the draw and the home team is that Roma has struggled recently overall and especially on the road. Verona has lost just 3 of their last 12 matches so picking them to get at least a draw is the way I’ll start May. Confidence Meter: 4 (out of 10)

2:45-Liverpool win: The EPL is unpredictable, but Liverpool is coming off a nice win over Norwich City and is playing well as their season comes to a close. They’ll kick off against Fulham who have struggled on the road with a 3-5-9 record so far in EPL action. Luis Suarez was brilliant in the last game including one of the goals of the year from almost mid-field. Give me Suarez and Liverpool to take this one. Confidence Meter: 5

7:10-Atlanta Braves: Brandon Beachy has been lights out for the Braves and the Phillies offense has been scuffling. The game is in Atlanta so if you’d rather avoid all the NBA prop action, the Braves are the way to go. Confidence Meter: 7

8:11-Holiday and Iguodala: The Sixers PG and SF faces off in this prop against the big men of the Bulls Boozer and Noah for most first half points. Without Rose, Boozer will play a larger part in the offense, but the Sixers have solid defenders down low and I think AI 2.0 and Holiday will come out firing to try and even the series with the suddenly vulnerable Bulls. Confidence Meter: 3

Apr 29, 2012; Los Angeles, CA, USA; Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum (17) and power forward Pau Gasol (16) block a shot by Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson (3) in the first half of game one in the Western Conference quarterfinals of the 2012 NBA Playoffs at the Staples Center. 10:45-Lakers Winning Margin: It’s the Nuggets 3PM versus the Lakers margin in this prop from the final NBA game. As a Celtics fan, I would love to see Denver stretch out the Lakers and even knock them out. Here’s the problem: While the Nuggets are good they don’t have size. The size of Bynum and Gasol and the experience of Kobe (among others) will be enough for the Lakers to take game 2 confortably. Confidence MeteR: 4 1/2
