It was a rough start to the week for some fantasy baseball pitching staffs. If you need to bounce back and lower your ERA while picking up W’s and K’s and improving your WHIP, there are plenty of options available in most leagues headed for the hill tonight. There’s a full slate of games across the country, all this evening and here’s three starters available in most leagues who can help you out.
As you can see in our archive, we pick three every day and you can see the results at the bottom of the page. Percents in parentheses are ownership in ESPN leagues.
Felix Doubront-Bos: (3.0%) The Red Sox have won nine of the last eleven games and the main improvement for the .500-again Sox has been their starting pitching. In each of his last two starts Doubront has allowed one earned run and picked up the win to move to 4-1 on the season. His 4.09 ERA still stings from some earlier rough starts and he hasn’t been able to master his pitch-count to go deep into the game. He’s only made it through 44.0 innings in his eight starts, but has 44 K’s in those innings and gets the Orioles and Brian Matusz tonight in Baltimore.
Aaron Harang-LAD: (6.2%) In his last two starts Harang has pitched a total of 15 innings allowing eight hits, two walks, and a run. He dominated the Padres his last time out, and gets the struggling D-Backs tonight at Chase Field. Arizona is only 7-13 at home and have only scored six runs in their last three games. Harang will try to keep the Dodgers rolling and improve his 3.83 ERA.
Drew Hutchinson-Tor: (0.2%) The Blue Jays rookie has impressed in his last two starts allowing a single run in each while pitching six innings. He has struggled with command walking 14 in his first six starts but has 24 K’s as well. He shut down the Yankees his last time out and tonight he’ll get the Jays other AL East rival the Rays in Tampa.
A win, a loss, and a no-decision yesterday for Drabek, Williams, and Buchholz. Here’s the overall results of the picks for the past week:
