In Fantasy Golf, we’re headed into the best part of the season. Last week, we wrapped up the Spring Season (see below for results) and this week we kick off the Summer Segment. The Summer segment is the only one with multiple majors, it has three, and it has the entire FedEx playoffs as well. It’s also the hardest segment to manage since maximum starts play a big role in making selections. Overall, I’m in pretty good position with lots of starts with the main players, but there’s always more strategy as the season winds down.
It’ll be a great segment in our ultra competitive Fantasy CPR group (which you can join). To give you an idea of the level of competition, 12 of the 15 had Dustin Johnson last week at the St. Jude. Boss of the Moss took the spring segment win while my entry tied for eighth. Tin Cup won last week with an impressive 210 behind DJ, a top ten from Ken Duke, and Robert Garrigus in Group A making the cut and finishing 42. MT Cup is in the lead for the overall season.
This week’s US Open at the Olympic Club in San Francisco will be a great major with all the major players in place. Tiger Woods is in good form after winning the Memorial with Rory McIlroy looking better last week, Lee Westwood in top form internationally, and the usual long list of contenders.
Due to time constraints this week, I’ll just list my picks for the Yahoo league and ESPN’s Best Ball Challenege. Next week, I’ll bring back the usual writeup. Here’s who I’m rolling with this week:
