After falling short of Joey Chestnut’s hot dog consumption by 67 yesterday, I’m back to give you more streak for the cash picks on a busy day on the Streak board. The typical July Tour de France pick gets things going early then tennis (Wimbledon), golf (Greenbrier), and soccer (UEFA) take us to plenty of baseball to close out the day with a little WNBA sprinkled in just for kicks.
Yesterday, my picks were off to start the day before finishing strong with the Union getting me green to close the day. I was in the red coming into the Rangers game so went with all my prop picks going 3-0 to get my streak back up to 4 by the end of the day. Hopefully I can grab my second 5-gamer of the month and stay in the green all day long. Here’s the picks I like…
Picks for July 5

July 3, 2012; London, ENGLAND; Serena Williams (USA) celebrates after recording match point against Petra Kvitova (CZE) on day eight of the 2012 Wimbledon Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Mandatory Credit: Susan Mullane-US PRESSWIRE
10:00- Serena Williams: Williams has been on a mission after falling early at the French. She looked in good form beating Kvitova in the last round. In their eight matches, Serena has won seven times including the last five and the only time at Wimbledon. Don’t let the rankings fool you… Confidence Meter: 7 (out of 10)
2:10- Milwaukee Brewers: I think it was Tom Haudricourt ( on twitter @Haudricourt ) who said earlier this week “manager Ron Roenicke keeps saying his bullpen will get better and they keep proving him wrong.” I like Fiers as a starting pitcher and I think the Brew-crew will bash Buehrle but the bullpen gives me pause from the confidence being too high. Confidence Meter: 5.
7:05-Pittsburgh Pirates: It’s July 5th and the Pirates are in sole possession of first place… Go back and read that last sentence again… They’re playing the Astros. Confidence Meter: 6

June 30, 2012; San Francisco, CA, USA; Cincinnati Reds pitcher Mat Latos (55) delivers a pitch against the San Francisco Giants in the third inning at AT
10:05-Cincinnati Reds: Mat Latos returns to face his former team at Petco. Edinson Volquez also faces his old team as the two starting pitchers involved in the trade last off-season go head-to-head in the first game of the series. The Reds have a better lineup and Latos has been pitching better than Volquez as of late. The Reds come into the series after dropping two of three in LA while the Padres return home after sweeping the D-Backs in Arizona. Confidence Meter: 2 1/2
