Sunday’s another full day of streaking as we enter the second week of July with 17 picks on the board. From Cycling, to Wimbledon, to the Greenbrier Classic, to Fenway Park, there’s plenty of green to be had if you look in the right places.
Yesterday for the second day in a row, after starting with a loss I won out finishing 5-1 on the day. Serena second set struggles were all that kept me from a perfect record. Still though, my picks have been solid this month (as you can see below) and hopefully today I can keep the mo’ goin’. Here’s my favorites

July 6, 2012; London, ENGLAND; Roger Federer (SUI) returns a shot against Novak Djokovic (SRB) in the men
Picks for July 8
9:10- Roger Federer: This Wimbledon final has a chance to be historic. No Englishman has made the finals at England’s tennis tournament since 1938. (It was a guy knows as Bunny, btw). However, I can’t go against Federer who’s trying to tie Pete Sampras’s record or seven Wimbledon titles. I love the Murray story, and think it would be cool to see him win. The problem is Federer has been just too good at Wimbledon and there’s just too much pressure on Murray. In their previous meetings, none in this tournament, Murray has an 8-7 advantage but Federer won the last two including the finals in Dubai earlier this year. When the two men have met in Grand Slam finals (2008 US Open, 2010 Australian Open), Federer has won in straight sets. In fact in his three appearances in a Grand Slam final, Murray has yet to win a single set. For Streak’s sake, it seems like too much to ask for Andy to pull it out even though the fans (and part of the fan in me) will be pulling for him. Confidence Meter: 5

1:35-Pittsburgh Pirates: The Bucs host the Giants to close out their three-game set. It used to be that Tim Lincecum on the mound for San Francisco was a must-pick, but he’s been so bad this year (3-9, 6.08 ERA) that I’m going the other way in this one. AJ Burnett got knocked around his last time out but before that had been pitching extremely consistently. I think he’ll bounce back and the Pirates will go into the break with another win and the top-spot in the NL Central. Confidence Meter: 6
1:50-Webb Simpson: Simpson has a two-stroke lead over Troy Kelly and three strokes over Ken Duke, J.B. Holmes, and Charlie Beljan. There’s no big names on the board all the way down to Bill Haas and Keegan Bradley who are five strokes back. It’s always possible that a lesser-known golfer will chase down Webb, but he seems to be in complete control and showed at the US Open he can perform on the biggest of stages. I normally don’t go one-over-the-field, but Simpson is a great pick here. Be advised, this will take the rest of the afternoon. Confidence Meter: 7
4:10-Los Angeles Dodgers: Dodgers starter Chris Capuano is going for his 10th win for the second time this tima against the division-rival D-Backs. He faced Arizona once earlier this season and won 6-1. His opponent will be Trevor Bauer the rookie phenom who has struggled since being called up to the Big Show and enters this game 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA. The Dodgers offense is the only cause for concern with this pick since they’re lacking both Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier from the middle of their lineup. They’ve been finding ways to win even without those power-bats and are a scrappy team looking to possibly finish the first half atop the NL West. Confidence Meter: 4

8:05- Boston Red Sox: As a diehard Sox fan, I try to stay away from picking them since it just adds to the stress and heartache, but I’m going with ‘em in this one with Lester on the hill to close out the first-half. If you need to go with props, I’d go 4 or 5, yes, and more. I’ve got to believe that Lester and my boys can get a split of this four-game set going into the break on Sunday Night Baseball. Nova is 0-1 in his last three and the Sox have hit him well historically. Confidence Meter: 5
