It’s a new work-week and time to get to work if you want a long streak by the end of the month. As we officially start the second-half of July, the Streak for the Cash board has 13 matchups for us to pick. Things get underway with a Tour de France pick from Stage 15. There’s some Swedish soccer in the afternoon followed by Team USA Women’s hoops in an exhibition game. All that is before we get to a big night of baseball with the Tigers and Angels facing off in the ESPN game and several other good matchups.
Yesterday, I went 4-2 but took the green in my most confident picks. Personally I went with the Cards last night and start off today in the red because of it. Here’s how I’m planning on bouncing back.
Picks for Monday, July 16
7:50 – Any Other Cyclist: Both uconnryan and mwallack have been right on the chat boards almost every time. Check them out for their analysis. They both say any other, so go with it if you’re in the red like me. Confidence Meter: 2 (out of 10)
5:35 – US Women by 25+: The US Women’s national team is even more dominant traditionally than the men. They crushed China earlier this year and Brazil isn’t in their league. The only way this is a cover is a back-door while the women let the end of the bench play, but I don’t think that’ll happen. Confidence Meter: 7

Jul 4, 2012; Cleveland, OH, USA; Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Ervin Santana (54) delivers in the first inning against the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field. Mandatory Credit: David Richard-US PRESSWIRE
7:09 – Yes both teams get a hit in the first inning: It’s Ervin Santana vs. Rick Porcello in the first game of the Angels/Tigers series. They both are very hittable pitchers who got knocked around pretty good their last starts. Santana gave up eight runs in just 1.1 innings and Porcello left after just 3.2 innings against the Twins when he gave up only three runs but 12 hits. I have no idea why 88% of people are saying no. It seems like a for-sure yes, both teams get a hit in the first. Confidence Meter: 6
7:45 – Yes 1+ HR during Innings 3-5: See above, these pitchers aren’t great and these lineups have multiple people with the power to go deep. Confidence Meter: 6
9:10 - 2 Runs or Fewer: If I’ve won the four before this, I’ll sit this one out. If I do play, as long as the game is close the teams will be using their setup men who are pretty good (Benoit, Coke, Downs, etc). Confidence Meter: 3

July 5, 2012; Phoenix, AZ, USA; Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Nate Eovaldi (50) throws during the first inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Mandatory Credit: Matt Kartozian-US PRESSWIRE
10:10 – LA Dodgers: LA hosts the Phillies and Joe Blanton while countering with Nathan Eovaldi. The Dodgers have lost five of their last six but have Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier back in their lineup. I think they’ll turn it around against Blanton who has been getting roughed up lately (last start 6.1 IP, 5 ER, L). Eovaldi is coming off one of his better performances and his first MLB win. On top of all that, the Dodgers are at home. Confidence Meter: 6
