July 18, 2012; St. Annes, ENGLAND; Tiger Woods hits a bunker shot on the practice green during the practice round of the 2012 British Open Championship at Royal Lytham
It’s another full day of Streak for the Cash picks with 13 matchups stretching from 4:42 AM to 10: 05 PM. Thursday marks the beginning of the Open Championship at Royal Lytham which provides us a nice couple props while the ongoing Tour de France and MLB season’s provides us with consistent picking throughout the rest of the day. For good measure, there’s even some UEFA and USA Basketball sprinkled in.
Yesterday, my picks stepped up and I went 4-0. I took the first three which I was pretty sure on and then even won my un-confident MLS pick as San Jose beat FC Dallas but only 2-1. Here’s hoping I can build on that momentum with these picks today:
Picks for July 19
4:42 AM- Tiger Woods: Woods isn’t my pick to win the tournament. I think Lee Westwood will finally get his Major this weekend, but I do think Woods has his game in the shape to handle Sergio and get me some green. Tiger missed the cut his last time out, but won the tournament previous to that. Garcia hasn’t played since the BMW Championship on the European Tour when he finished 29th. He does have to top ten finishes in Europe this season but does not have a top ten in a PGA Tour event yet this year while Tiger has won three times this season. It’s a full-round prop so giving the tie doesn’t bother me all that much. Confidence Meter: 7

1:05- Detroit Tigers: Both starting pitchers Max Scherzer and Jerome Williams are inconsistent, but the Tigers lineup at home looked real good last night. Scherzer had five consecutive quality starts before struggling his last time out against the Orioles. This will be an awesome game to watch but a tough game to pick. Stay away if you’re on a good streak, but I’m taking Detroit. Confidence Meter: 3
7:10 – Boston Red Sox: Clay Buccholz makes his second start back off the DL as the Sox-Sox series closes out tonight at Fenway. He’ll match up with Jose Quintana (who I think is a good spot starter). This should be a well-pitched game and will most likely be close, late. The Red Sox bullpen has been solid since early season troubles and their lineup is fairly dynamic even without Big Papi with Ellsbury and Crawford finally doing their thing at the top fo the lineup and Adrian Gonzalez and Cody Rosee providing some pop. Confidence Meter: 6
10:05 – New York Yankees: The Yankees are too hot to pick against right now. They open a three-game set against the quickly improving A’s. Freddy Garcia has been solid for NY his last few outings. He’ll match up with A.J. Griffin who has had impressive outings against the Rangers and Red Sox, so it’s not as one-sided as it appears. Still though, the Yankees are the smart pick here. Confidence Meter: 4.
