Streak for the Cash Picks, July 22

July 21, 2012; St. Annes, ENGLAND; Adam Scott hits a bunker shot on the 1st hole during the third round of the 2012 British Open Championship at Royal Lytham

On this Sunday, enjoy your sports with a nice winning streak in hand as Streak for the Cash again goes global to fill up Sunday with Streak pickin’ goodness. The early window features either the Open Championship in Britain or the Tour de France as it comes to Paris. There’s a baseball slot at 1 PM ET with five straight-up picks, and then some USA hoops and MLS to take us to Sunday Night Baseball. Yesterday my picks went 4-1, with the Angels-Rangers game being my only L. For my streak, the only pick I was confident enough of was the Pirates who won to run my streak to 8. Here’s what I like today:

Picks for Sunday

9:30- Adam Scott: The numbers would indicate going with AOG here. as Jason Sobel ( @JasonSobelGC ) of Golf Channel pointed out.  ”On the PGA Tour this season 54-hole leaders are only 9 for 29.” I think Scott with a four shot lead though can hold on and take his first Major. He’s not just a no-name who will give it up easily. He’s one of my picks from pre-tournament so I’m sticking with him now. Confidence Meter: 5 (out of 10) 1:35- Washington Nationals: Jair Jurrjens who starts for Atlanta is too inconsistent and Ross Detwiler is a solid starter as I explained here. The Nats are at home and have the better starter. Confidence Level:

Aug. 10, 2008; Beijing, CHINA; Argentina forward Luis Scola (4) and Fabricio Oberto (7) react during Lithuania 79-75 victory against Argentina in the preliminary round at Beijing Olympic Basketball Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Bob Donnan-US PRESSWIRE

3:35- Any Other Result: Argentina is good. They’re ranked #3 in the world according to FIBA. The game is in Barcelona giving neither side home-court. USA should win but they won’t crush Manu and the boys by 20. The USA team was challenged by Brazil and they could lose this if they play that poorly. I don’t think they will and will win by 10-12 but 20 is way to much to give. Confidence Level: 8

7:05- San Jose Earthquakes win: The Western Conference table-leading Quake head north of the border to visit the Whitecaps in Vancouver. San Jose is 13-4-4 although they have drawn or lost their last two road games. They are awesome at home, but did lose in Vancouver earlier this season 2-1 after beating them 3-1 in San Jose. This should be a good game and because San Jose is on the road it’s no lock. I’ll take them to win but only with a Confidence Meter: 3

8:05- Texas Rangers: Texas has won six of nine and their bats came alive yesterday against Ervin Santana after being stymied by Jered Weaver in the series opener. Matt Harrison who is scheduled to start for Texas is 8-1 with a 1.34 ERA in his last 10 starts and will face off with Dan Haren who will be making his first start since spending time on the DL for back stiffness. Harrison has been great, the Rangers are firing on all cylinders, but it’s still tough to pick against Trout ‘n Trumbo. I’ll do it in this matchup though. Confidence Meter: 7
