It’s the start of a new week in Streak for the Cash and time to start a new streak. With the Open Championship and the Tour de France in the books, it’s time to settle into a new routine on Streak. In the early week, we’ll have some somewhat-exotic European soccer in the day and plenty of baseball at night.

Yesterday, my picks lost a bit of momentum going 1-3 and snapping my personal 10-game winning streak. There’s 10 picks on the board as we approach midnight and it’s time to get back into the green with these picks.

Monday’s Picks

3:15- Fylkir FC: Win or Draw – Of the three soccer picks, they all look to be coin flips except this one. There’s little track record for these teams early in their seasons, but Fylkir is getting the draw and of the three picks that are there I like them the best. Confidence Meter: 2 (out of 10)

8:05- No Run in the First: The Red Sox have given up runs in the first in almost every game recently, but the chances are still better that in any given inning there won’t be a run scored. It’s a prop, so don’t pick it unless you’re on a win-2 or less. Confidence Meter: 2 1/2

8:15- St. Louis Cardinals: If you want a straight up pick, I think this is the best one. The Cardinals return home to host the Dodgers as both teams try and regain their momentum from the first half. The Dodgers are expected to activate Chad Billingsley from the DL to make the start. Before being placed on the sideline, Billingsley had taken the loss in five consecutive starts. He also gave up five runs in six innings to St. Louis in his previous outing this season against the Cards. He’ll be opposed by Joe Kelly who has been the victim of poor run support and as a results is just 1-2 despite a 2.75 ERA. I like Kelly to have a solid game and the Cards offense to keep rolling like they did at the end of their weekend series with the Cubs. Both teams are coming off sweeps this past weekend and this four-game set between playoff contenders should be a compelling one. I’ll take the Cards at home to take the first game. Confidence Meter: 6

8:35 - 9 hits or More: Scott Feldman and Felix Doubront both give up hits and both these lineups can mash. Nine hits seems like a fairly easy pick for a four inning span. It’s still a prop and not a sure thing, but depending on the game-flow it would seem to be the best of all the props. Confidence Meter: 4
