The Olympics get under way on Streak for the Cash with some early Women’s soccer matchups to get things going along with the usual blend of baseball and some interesting exhibition soccer tonight.

If you’re interested in picking your way through the Olympics, come on over and join our Fantasy CPR Group on ESPN’s London PickEm game. See if you can navigate your entry all the way to the gold. The overall winner gets a 2,000 dollar Best Buy card, and it definitely gives you something to cheer for in just about every competition.

Yesterday wasn’t a good day for my Streak for the Cash picks but I think I can bounce back with these matchups today:

Picks for Wednesday, July 25

12:00 – USA Win: The Olympics actually kick off before the Opening Ceremony with the USA and France playing in the opening game in Group G. France is a solid team having finished third in the Women’s World Cup and is ranked sixth by FIFA. France has been playing well and a draw is a distinct possibility especially this early in the competition. The USA women are favored to advance from the group and I think they’ll take the gold, so I’ll pick them here. It’s not an easy pick though so stay away if your on a w3 or more. Confidence Meter: 3

12:40 – Atlanta Braves: The rumor is that the Marlins will still be able to field a team, but they sure are selling off pieces quickly after dealing Omar Infante and Hanley Ramirez in the last two days. Atlanta’s a team pushing for the playoffs; Miami’s lost six of seven. Ricky Nolasco gets the ball for the Fish having given up four runs in each of his last two starts both resulting in losses. Tommy Hanson will look to bounce back from a rough outing in his last start as he pitches for the fourth time in Miami where he’s 2-0 with a 1.59 ERA. Confidence Meter: 6

2:45 – Sweden wins by two or more goals: Sweden is the fourth-ranked Women’s squad and a regular contender for the gold at the Olympics. South Africa is ranked 61st and is making their first trip to the Olympics in Women’s Soccer. Reports say that South Africa has solid speed down the outside but they’ll get a rude welcome in a tough group. Confidence Meter: 5

7:05 – Tampa Bay Rays: David Prie goes for his MLB-leading 14th win as the Rays look to take their second game in a row from the Orioles. Miguel Gonzalez gets the start for the O’s. Although the rookie has been solid and the Rays bats sluggish, I think Price will get the support he needs and the Rays will draw even with Baltimore again in the AL East standings. Confidence Meter: 7

8:35 - Chelsea by 2+ over MLS All-Stars: The last two years Man U has beaten the MLS All-Stars 5-2 and 4-0. This year they’re playing Chelsea but the results should be similar. It’s not really fair to ask a group of players who’ve never played as a unit before to challenge an adjusted and ready club team. Chelsea is loaded with talent and will put it on display as they beat the American soccer up-starts. Confidence Meter: 6
