Thursday’s a slower day in the sports world, but there are some solid picks on the board giving us a chance to get some green together in ESPN’s Streak for the Cash.
Yesterday my picks bounced back from a tough Tuesday and I went 4-1 and missed the MLS All-Star game since I was on the Rays leaving me personally on a three-game winner. Here’s how I plan on building on it today.
Picks for July 26
12:15 – Switzerland : The Swiss team is solid although they haven’t played in the Olympics since 1928. These are not the Men’s National teams from World Cup, so we need to relearn these rosters. Rosters are made up of U23 players with three over-age players allowed per team. The Swiss have solid players with more experience than Gabon. It’s the opening game for both squads in London, but the Swiss have more talent on the roster. Confidence Meter: 5 (out of 10)
12:37 – Oakland Athletics : The A’s are red hot and it’s impossible to pick against them right now. They won 16-0 yesterday and look to complete the sweep and win their eighth in a row. Tommy Milone shut out the Yankees for seven innings his last start and will face off with Aaron Laffey of the Jays. I do think this one will be close, but Oakland is firing on all cylinders while the Jays are sliding so the A’s are the pick. Confidence Meter: 6
8:10 – Washington Nationals : The Nats open their series in Milwaukee against the struggling Brew-crew. Yovani Gallardo is the wild card here since he’s been pretty good at home. I still can’t pick the Brewers and that bullpen as they’ve lost six games in a row and are sliding and selling right out of the Wild Card race. Edwin Jackson bounced back a bit in his last start after a rough stretch and I think the Nats will keep rolling. Confidence Meter: 4
Overall Picks: 68-44
Picks with Confidence over 5: 26-18
Current Personal Streak: W3
