Streak for the Cash Picks – August 2

by Daily Rounds

Rob Schumacher-US PRESSWIRE

It’s day two of the August Streak picks and there’s plenty on the board with the PGA Tour joining Olympic swimming and UEFA to get things going in the morning and afternoon before Majoy League Baseball and the World Football Challenge close things out in the evening.

Yesterday my picks went a so-so 4-3. I was able to end on a W3 with the baseball props though so I’m 4-1 on my per entry. Here’s how I’m hunting the green today:

August 2 Picks

9:40- Adam Scott or tie: Scott is the defending champ and was playing very well in the British Open before his implosion at the end to hand Ernie Els the Claret Jug. He’s been playing well as of late and should win this prop especially getting the tie. The only hesitation is that Matt Kuchar is always a solid, steady player and Scott may have some lingering effects after handing away the Open. Confidence Meter: 5

1:50 – 69 or lower: Tiger historically owns this course having won here seven  times in 12 starts. He struggled the last couple years as he has everywhere, but I think he’ll finish this tournament in the top five. The pick here is under par vs par or over since it’s a par 70 course. Tiger will shoot about -3 or -4 I think making this a pretty easy prop. It will take the whole afternoon though, so don’t expect to get any other picks in. Confidence Meter: 7

3:19 – Ryan Lochte: Lochte is the heavy favorite to win the gold here and was the top qualifier. This should be another medal for Phelps, but Lochte’s will most likely be gold. The other swimmer to watch in this one is the Hungarian Laszio Cseh. If anyone take’s Lochte’s gold it will most likely be Cseh not Phelps. Confidence Meter: 6

3:45 – San Francisco Giants: Both starters Barry Zito and Chris Young are coming off rough starts their last time out. Zito has been better this year at home (almost a whole 1.00 on his ERA), and Chris Young hasn’t dominated in any of his starts although he’s been solid. I think Hunter Pence will help this Giants lineup actually put some runs up and I like them to get one of the Wild Cards after LA passes them for the NL West. Confidence Meter: 5

8:05 – Texas Rangers: Ryan Dempster has been lights out and will make his first start for Texas in the midst of another showdown series with the Angels. At home, the Rangers bats need to come alive as they try to build on their momentum after a crazy win last night in extra innings. I think Dempster will be rejuvenated jumping into a playoff race and that the Rangers will get to their former teammate C.J. Wilson to get the W. Confidence Meter: 3

10:05 – Oakland Athletics: The A’s aren’t as hot as they were after the Rays cooled them down with some solid pitching the last two days. The Blue Jays are struggling right now and with Bartolo Colon on the mound with the game on the west coast, it will be extremely difficult for Toronto to pull this one off. Oakland just took two of three from Toronto at the Rogers Centre last week and I think they’ll take this one to open the series out West. Confidence Meter: 6
