On Sunday there’s a full slate of afternoon games with plenty of potential starters that you could pick up. If you need to finish the week out strong, these are the four that I like the best to have solid starts who are owned in less than half of ESPN leagues. I’m pressed for time today so just quick-hits write-ups. Full analysis will hopefully return next week.

Possible Pickups for Sunday

Scott Diamond – Min: (owned in 46.6% of ESPN leagues) This is probably his last appearance in this feature since his ownership will cross the 50% threshold. He matches up with James Shields in what should be a great pitchers duel in Minnesota. Diamond is 10-5 on the year with a great 1.17 WHIP, a 2.91 ERA, and just 62 strikeouts in 114.1 innings. As long as you don’t need a ton of K’s, he’s the top pickup as he faces the offensively-challenged Rays.

Ross Detwiler – Was: (38.7%) In his last two starts, Detwiler has allowed just two runs total on six hits while pitching 14 innings. He goes in Arizona Sunday which is a hitters park so it’ll be a good chance to see if he’s got what it takes to stay in the Nats rotation (and on your fantasy team) the rest of the year.

Eric Stults – SD: (0.4%) Stults didn’t allow a run in 5.1 innings his first start since returning from the DL when he faced the Cubs his last time out. Sunday he’ll face the Pirates at PNC Park and the ever-inconsistent Erik Bedard. Stults has a 2.72 ERA in 43 innings this year and has a 2-2 record to show for it. He’s worth a look in deep leagues if you need some solid innings.

Wade LeBlanc – Mia: (0.7%) LeBlanc has made two starts and hasn’t yet pitched long enough to qualify for a win. He’s been solid though with 8.1 innings and just two runs allowed. If you’re in a deep league and all the other options are gone, LeBlanc against the Dodgers is a decent pickup.
