The Streak for the Cash options for Tuesday start with early UEFA Champions League Qualifying action in Moscow and Mönchengladbach. After starting with soccer, it’s time to come back across the Atlantic for an evening of MLB and WNBA action.
Yesterday wasn’t a good day for my picks going 1-2 and losing my more confident picks. It worked out fine for my streak entry though as the only pick I was able to get to was the Phillies who provided the lone green on my board running my streak to a modest W3. Here’s the picks I like the most for today.
Picks for 8/21
2:45- Dynamo Kiev win or draw: Kiev has a pretty solid Champions League resume including convincing wins in both legs in the previous round over a solid Dutch team in Feyenoord. Kiev has way more experience on their roster and is getting the draw. Dynamo Kiev takes on Borussia Monchengladbach which is way fun to say and find on a map but they’re not the better pick here in their Champions League debut needing the outright win to get the green. Confidence Meter: 5 (out of 10)
7:05- Connecticut Sun win by 15+: Connecticut has been playing well and especially … Tulsa on the on the other hand as dropped four in a row and six of seven. Their last three road games have all been losses and all by at least 15 points. It’s a lot of points to give especially when the Sun won by only 11 in Tulsa in January, but I’ll go with the Sun. Confidence Meter: 4

10:04- Pittsburgh Pirates: The Pirates send ace A.J. Burnett to the mound against Jason Marquis and the Padres after dropping game one of their three game set Monday night. Burnett is 15-4 on the year but one of those losses was to San Diego two starts ago. In that start, he was beaten by Marquis who had his best start in years throwing a two-hitter at PNC Park. He was hammered his last time out in Atlanta, and I think their last meeting was an aberration that won’t happen again tonight at Petco. Burnett should dominate the Padres lineup and the Pirates should be able to get to Marquis if their bats have arrived after their 19-inning marathon Sunday. They didn’t make it in time for game one as the Padres took it 3-1 behind a solid outing form Edinson Volquez. Confidence Meter: 6
