It’s the last day of August and this segment of Streak for the Cash. Starting tomorrow, everybody’s back to zero. Before that though, there’s still work to be done in the 13 picks on the board for today. There’s picks from the PGA Tour’s Deutsche Bank, the continuing US Open, the German Bundesliga, Major League Baseball, and College Football’s opening weekend.

Yesterday I went 5-1 with my picks, but my final pick was my only loss so I’m not playing for much today in my personal entry. Here’s my favorite picks of the day to end the month on a winning note:

Picks for 8/31

8:16- Graeme McDowell or tie: Although Adam Scott made the cut last week and McDowell didn’t, Scott shot 74-75 on the weekend while McDowell was 75-71 before heading home early. Both players tied for 11 in the tournament before that on both their schedules the PGA Championship. I don’t see enough difference to give the tie here. Confidence Meter: 6 (out of 10)

Aug 27, 2012; Queens, NY, USA; Samantha Stosur (AUS) returns a shot against Petra Martic (CRO) on day one of the 2012 US Open at Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Mandatory Credit: Matthias Hauer/GEPA via US PRESSWIRE

11:10- 19 Games or less: Samantha Stosur takes on America’s Varvara Lepchenko in the third round. Stosur is cruising as she tries to defd her title and has lost just five games in four sets. She should move on quickly. Confidence Meter: 7

2:45- Chelsea: Chelsea has been playing well and should be able to add to their European trophy collection. It’s the winner of the Champions League and the Europa League as they face off for the Super Cup. When they played in 2009-10 Champions League Chelsea earned a draw in Madrid and then rolled 4-0 at home to move on from the group stage. Confidence Meter: 5

7:05- St. Louis Cardinals: Adam Wainwright who starts for the Cards is 6-0 with a 1.80 ERA in his last seven starts. He’ll look to be the stopper for St. Louis who has dropped four in a row as they face Washington who lost five of their last seven. Confidence Meter: 4

8:05- Michigan State by double digits: The Spartans host Boise State as both teams start QB’s making their first start. The Spartans are at home and return a solid defense and running back Le’Veon Bell. The Spartans should be able to dominate the line of scrimmage and let Bell run them to a comfortable win. Confidence Meter: 6
