Early September continues today in ESPN’s Streak for the Cash with a Labor Day special of 12 picks. Throughout the day there are plenty of Major League Baseball, US Open tennis, international soccer, and PGA Tour picks to fill the holiday and have a pick active from 11 AM through around 11 PM if you play all the matchups.
Yesterday my picks went 3-4 overall but I stuck to my most confident picks and got two more wins with Arsenal and the Tigers. I’m currently on a winning streak of five to start off the month, and I’m hoping these picks work out as well as the first two days have.
9/3 Streak for the Cash picks
1:10- 9 games or More: If Serena is locked in, she can dominate anyone. This is a tricky pick for sure since Hlavackova is playing well right now and just knocked off #14 in the world in the last round. Hlavackova has played 8 times against top 15 opponents and hasn’t lost one times in 8 games or fewer. Serena also has a doubles match later although no one knows how that could affect her. Don’t just go with the crowd (97.2% right now). This will probably be a close one with the right answer being either eight or nine. Confidence Meter: 3 (out of 10)
1:50- Louis Oosthuizen: Oosthuizen has a three-shot lead but some of the best competitors in the world chasing him. Rory is three back and Tiger and Dustin Johnson six back. It just seems like a ton of ground to make up on the unflappable South African who shot a -8 yesterday. Look for him to raise the Duetsche Bank Trophy to celebrate his Labor Day. Confidence Meter: 5
4:05- San Francisco Giants: Two teams headed in opposite directions meet in this NL West showdown. The Giants are returning home after winning five of six on the road while the D-Backs come in having lost eight of its last ten. The Giants send Barry Zito to the hill who has pitched much better at home all year. San Francisco has won his last five starts even though his last one he only lasted 2.1 innings. He’ll be opposed by Patrick Corbin who had been pitching well for the Snakes but lost his last two starts against the Padres and the Reds. Confidence Meter: 6
8:05-Georgia Tech loses by nine or less or wins: Virginia Tech returns to action by welcoming Georgia Tech’s triple option attack to Blacksburg in the first game for both teams. It’ll be a great nightcap to the Labor Day festivities and a nice way to close out the first weekend of college football. The Hokies return their entire front-seven from last year’s defensive unit, but have a remade offensive line protecting Logan Thomas. These ACC foes always seem to play tight, hard-fought games, and I think this one shapes up to be an entertaining, high-scoring game that will be close. Getting 10 points with Georgia Tech and their scoring power in game they could win outright is a nice way to close out Labor Day. Confidence Meter: 6
8:06-Georgia Tech Rushing Yards: If you need to go with props I’d go with this one in the first half. Confidence Meter: 3
10:00- 4 TDs or More: This pick is subject to change depending on the first half, but I think both teams will get 30+ in this game. Confidence Meter: 5
Total Picks: 9-6
Personal Entry: 5-0-0
Current Streak: W5
