It’s time to play hardball in Streak for the Cash with 15 picks on the board today and 12 from Major League Baseball. There’s two early soccer picks and one late WNBA game that sandwich the heaping helping of a dozen picks from around the Majors today and there’s a few that are very nice matchups early and some tough calls later.
Yesterday my picks went 4-1 and I was able to get some soccer picks strung together to get my winning streak to the second-highest of the month at six (longest was nine earlier this month). Hopefully I can keep it rolling with these picks:
Picks for 9/12
4:05-Philadelphia Phillies: The surging Phils turn to Cliff Lee who has only allowed three runs in his last three starts all of which have been Philadelphia W’s. He’ll face off with Josh Johnson who the Phillies pounded in his one start this season at Citzens Bank Park. The Phillies are back in the Wild Card hunt and I think they’ll pick up a win in their getaway game. Confidence Meter: 6 (out of 10)

July 21, 2012; Washington, D.C., USA; Washington Nationals starting pitcher John Lannan (31) pitches in the third inning against the Atlanta Braves at Nationals Park. Mandatory Credit: Joy R. Absalon-US PRESSWIRE
7:10- Washington Nationals: The Nats won’t have Stephen Strasburg the rest of the wy and they’ll hand the ball to John Lannan in Strasburg’s spot in the rotation tomorrow. Lannan is undefeated (2-0) in the Majors this year and has been pitching excellent in Triple-A Syracuse. The Nats have take 13 of 17 from the Mets this season but they will face rookie sensation Matt Harvey who has looked good although the Mets have given him no run support. Expect the same script tomorrow with a solid start from Harvey and not enough runs against Lannan to get the win. Confidence Meter: 4
9:40- LA Dodgers: The Dodgers all the sudden can’t score runs getting shut out in their last two games. Maybe facing Trevor Cahill at home is a good thing for them then since he’s just 4-7 with a 5.33 ERA at Chase Field and 6-2 with a 2.91 ERA on the road. Aaron Harang goes for the Dodgers who has been up and down but has gotten hammered by the D-Backs in three starts this season (0-1, 9.42 ERA). Confidence Meter: 2
10:05-Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim: A.J. Griffin has been surprising for Oakland this year, but will have to face a tough Angels lineup tonight. The A’s are looking for their 12th straight road-win which is pretty incredible, but they’ll have to face Ervin Santana who has been pitching well lately and always seems to pitch well at home against the A’s(8-3, 2.02 ERA in 13 home starts against Oakland.) Confidence Meter: 3
