Greg Jennings has been declared inactive for tonight’s Thursday Night Football tilt with the Packers’ division-rival Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field. Make sure to get Jennings on your bench and proceed with your backup plans. He should return next week since his injury is not expected to be long term.
As a result of Jennings absence, Aaron Rodgers takes a slight hit but is still an elite QB option against the Bears. The biggest increase in value due to Jennings being out is probably James Jones. Jones had a solid week one with four catches on six targets for 81 yards and a touchdown. He’ll now be in the starting lineup with Jennings unavailable.
The other player who will probably receive more touches is the dynamic Randall Cobb who will line up again in the backfield, slot, as well as out wide as what the Packers are calling an “omnipresent mismatch.” (Omnipresent Mismatches is a pretty cool fantasy team name if you own Randall Cobb, by the way.) If you don’t own Cobb, check your waiver wire just to be sure he’s not available since he looks to be on the way to a breakout season as we originally highlighted with LombariAve.com before the preseason even began in this post.
Play all your Packers tonight and feel good about solid nights for Jordy Nelson and Aaron Rodgers despite the absence of Jennings. The Green Bay offense spreads the ball around enough that even the loss of a top 10 fantasy wide receiver won’t derail them tonight. I’m taking the Pack in Pigskin Pick’Em as well and giving the points.
